    VT in the news.

While safety is always the number one priority comments as above make me cringe... Two questions Are you a guard? And Are you really a guard?

Not specifically for deaf people but... http://www.arrivatrainswales.co.uk/050314OrangeWallet/

    Stupid photters

Two things. The aggressor wasn't the full picnic. Secondly, I assume one of the platform Enders was sensible and reasonable. One of them should not have stepped in. I would have done.

    VT in the news.

I had a group of people on a train a while back. All deaf, all trying to travel on bus passes which they could not use on the route. I decided the best course of action was to record the incident with management and do nothing. It is an awkward one. As for buying tickets on trains most TOCs...

    Internal lighting of heritage coaches

I'm interested to see this. I suggested my local heritage line develop some low voltage LED based lighting system which they could then flog to all the other heritage lines for a small but worthwhile profit. Alas, it didn't happen.

London to Chester STP working tomorrow (18th July)

Golfists for Hoylake. It would be nice to see the Belle up the Wrexham Bidston line but pathing Bidston to Hoylake would be an issue...

Sarcastic Tweet Gets Similar Response Shock

There is no set plan for the posters displayed in 150s. The majority carry at least one diagram of the valley lines network and a couple of adverts. All the units have a poster detailing the new card only ticket machines (both English and Welsh in the same poster) and most have a SMUG poster...

Sarcastic Tweet Gets Similar Response Shock

I do take exception to the waste. Paper for a start. Most documents arrive in duplicate. I've just renewed my driving licence. One form went straight in the bin. Bills, two of each - though luckily only one needs paying. Still a heck of a waste.

    Royal train in Matlock today

The unit was in service with 1st reserved for the royal party and the other coaches used for people who would usually be on the one or two coach local service... As I understand it. Several years ago an enthusiast chart train top and tailed stock wanted to traverse a Cornish branch and the...

    GCR: planning permission granted

Does the shed need to be moved at all, when I visited it looked as I'd a single line would fit around the north west side if the shed... Needs a tidy but otherwise ok...

    Machine out of use

Don't confuse government owned with well looked after. I'm not sure our government would be any less penny pinching than our franchised TOCs. I do think passengers should be more supportive of ticket offices. Many don't use em, and won't bat an eyelid at reductions in hours and de-staffing...

BTP finally make arrests over silly pensioners protest in SY

I don't think they are though. I honestly don't think they realise that there is a cost. I'm guessing they still talk of British Rail.

BTP finally make arrests over silly pensioners protest in SY

They should be old enough to realise nothing in life is free. Somebody always picks up the bill. Even in the early days of nationalisation the railway had a cost and the government couldn't fund it at any price.

    Virgin extension until 2017

Possibly the easiest station to barrier does not seem to be on the list. Warrington Bank Quay is very leaky in revenue terms with a lot of ticketless travel up to Wigan and Preston. The station operator would also take a considerable number of uncollected fares from Earlestown and Runcorn...

    Cosford Air Show Specials

Admission tickets are available from Stations and the guard on the train. Last years train operation was fantastic, managed entirely by Arriva trains wales, thanks to the closure of the Shrewsbury Newport line for the day and the resulting surplus of trains and traincrew at Shrewsbury. Two...

priv discount to be allowed on off peak tickets

I have discussed this with a manager. My view is that when management can ensure the scrotey little fare dodging scumbags pay their fare I will then, and only then, consider charging fellow workers who may be of some use to me should there be an incident.... It raised no objection...

Nutter attacks female conductor on Cambrian

Only guessing Southstand, but she may have met him before... ... and, I suspect, any guards who meet him in the future will ask to see a ticket before they let him on. And Tim, a few years ago this would not have made the news. Before CCTV I suspect justice would have come as the driver...

Nutter attacks female conductor on Cambrian

I suspect he pressed close button on the panel after closing the door he was at with the passenger door close button. That would give interlock and allow him to use the signal button. Again, only a suspicion but I doubt he would know buzzer codes so expect he just gave one.
