You can get hold of a proper timetable from the website as a pdf under the timetables section, Another problem is that they have changed the names of some stops. For example Garnet Lane in Tadcaster is shown in the app as Marlborough Drive, but in the timetable and on the displays in the bus it...
That would be helpful. I planned to arrive 50+ minutes in advance of the Weardale departure from Bishop Auckland, but the train from Darlington was cancelled. The next one arrived 5 minutes too late to make a connection. I don't think the Weardale Railway refund advanced tickets.
My dad used to work in King Street in Manchester and he was of the opinion that it was more convenient to use Salford station rather than Victoria. It was also about 10 minutes quicker than the electric trains to Victoria. However the electric trains ran at a 10 minute interval during the rush...
Is there a thread for the re-organisation of the roads outside York Station apart from this one ? I ask because I am not aware of an update on progress with removal of the bridge. I had the impression this would be quite a quick process but it seems to be dragging on and on with what looks like...
Another late line is the Selby to Goole railway opened in 1910, closed in 1964 though a small part is used for access to Drax power station and a long siding existed from the Selby to Doncaster line to near the former bridge over the A1041. (A lone semaphore signal remained at the eastern end of...
If there had been a through line along the south bank of the Thames it would have developed into a heavily used service altering the purpose and population of south of the Thames. The fact that it wasn't built and other developments took place instead has distorted the pros and cons for such an...

Midland Railway West Riding lines to Huddersfield and Bradford from Royston, much of which was not built. The built parts being:
Royston to Thornhill
Mirfield to Huddersfield
Thornhill to Saville Town, Dewsbury

In 1957 I was on a school trip to York and we visited the 'museum' which was in the old station. (The railway entrance to which is now being more clearly exposed by the current reshaping work in front of the station.) My memory of the content is limited, I just remember a group of carriages...
Perhaps the new North Yorkshire/York mayor might be able to get some movement on improving the York - Scarborough services as it seems strange a large tourist town like Scarborough can't have as good a service as Redcar/Saltburn, which are significantly smaller.
Referring to TPE trains to...
North Yorkshire Authority have plans for a new, large residential area in the vicinity of Cattal Station and Kirk Hammerton. I presume this is partly justified by the existing rail links to Harrogate and York. The train will be significantly quicker than a car.
There is also considerable...
Darlington to Saltburn, a rough ride but have you all forgotten what these things were like in the winter, the draughts, the freezing cold, the damp ... virtually no heating,
Surely this sort of development should be funded and coordinated by Great British Rail with a view to developing a standard that manufacturers can build to. Is there an export market to tap?
Are you referring to Hogan's ?. What a strange pub that was if you decided on a pint before catching a train; its huge bar and a lack of clients being its main feature.
Just thinking about this a bit more, it would be useful if buses such as the Barnard Castle bus could terminate or at least...
I agree with the point about bus seats. The seats on the Transdev Coastliner service (in Yorkshire) are much better than most of the train seats I travel on. The same is true for other Transdev 'premium' bus services, for example Leeds to Ripon. I suppose the problem with the design is they...
