Does the Rail hobby need a kick up the......

I don't totally agree with that - Newport and Eastleigh usually always turn up something of interest in a three hour session, and plenty of passing "regular" freights - although probably depends on your definition of "interesting"! Down here though, they are the only two places I'd...

FGW Bans Enthusiasts From Chetenham Spa?

I've never got the issue with being called a customer.. To me if someone pays for a service they are a customer of the provider of the service. Either term is perfectly fine (IMO)

    ATOC guide to tickets

From an aesthetic point of view I don't like them, the old style looked a lot more balanced, this just looks like plain text at first glance. Also not convinced they are more user friendly, not for those of us with a little more knowledge than the average passenger anyway!

Yep, natures great air conditioner :D (And also decapitator if you're stupid) ;)

FGW service fails to turn up at Brighton!

As BestWestern this service is often seriously quiet by arrival at Bristol, I've used it many times between Westbury and Bath/Bristol, and it's usually a very pleasant trip indeed, I've used it about 10 times and not yet got a 150.. My luck must run out soon, although as I only usually do a...

Most surprising place you've bumped into forum members?

I've unexpectedly met AdamW on more than one occasion, and I suspect I've travelled on trains worked by BestWestern and Flamingo, but not knowing them in real life, I can't be sure. Oh, and FGW142001 on the FGW Class 142 farewell tour, but he's not a particularly active member on here IIRC.

Does the Rail hobby need a kick up the......

Definitely, you need steam to be the predominant force at a railway in order to pay for its upkeep, regardless of whether steam is more worthy of preservation or not.

Does the Rail hobby need a kick up the......

In my opinion this is the sort of thing that gives rail enthusiasts a bad reputation, the railway exists not for spotters but for passengers, we have to adapt to changes, whether they are for better or worse for enthusiasts. There is a game called "Hellfire" that sounds rather like what you're...

2115 Penzance to London Paddington 14/7 - HST vs Sleeper

I did Totnes to Exeter on it, in standard it was just like a usual HST service, albeit a quiet one. I can verify the gen posted by Peter above, also it ran via the Southern, last reported on time at Castle Cary. Dodgy phone pic of it at St Davids is attached:

Ticket Office Close - Correct Course of Action?

What if no ticket is available to cover even part of the journey at a lesser price than the ranger? (Such as Tiverton Parkway - Exeter St Davids £5.20 vice £5.00)

    TV intermittently losing signal

Hi guys, not sure how knowledgeable you lot are on TV's, but I thought it was worth asking.. Basically, I turned my TV on (for the first time today) about two hours ago, and it's been intermittently losing signal ever since, it's ok for about a minute, then the picture freezes and I get a no...

    Hayfever

I suffer from it, but it could be a lot worse, it usually only occurs the first couple of hours after I wake up, although some days it can go on for longer, today (bizarrely, given the pollen level) I haven't had any symptoms at all!
