3 Spies Junction? Coventry - Nuneaton Line

Many thanks for that John! You know, in all that time I never realised there was a second. It was the fixed-height one that was such a prominent landmark and the one I'll always remember.

3 Spies Junction? Coventry - Nuneaton Line

Apologies to the mods if this is wandering off-topic slightly but the temptation for a wallow in nostalgia was too great :D. That view of what looks like a gasometer (although I was never entirely sure what it actually was) was a regular part of my childhood as we used to use the Lythalls Lane -...

Exactly, my sentiments too. Thank you Phil.

    GCR Bridge Project

Interesting to see what I presume will be the final overall design. From the south; canal bridge, embankment, arch, bridge deck (over Railway Terrace), bridge deck, arch, MML bridge, embankment! Just out of curiosity, where are the two bridge decks being stored? Not exactly items that can be...

What is your earliest memory of travelling on a train?

Many thanks DelW. That shot brings back memories. If I've got my orientation correct there's a footpath behind the hoardings on the left leading from the station entrance along the back of platform 1 and up to Warwick Road bridge. Spent many a happy Saturday morning there.

What is your earliest memory of travelling on a train?

Thanks for that Rogercov. Unfortunately it seems the memory may have been a bit too hazy. Sadly, the couple involved have long since passed so I'll probably never know!

What is your earliest memory of travelling on a train?

I have a very vague recollection of being taken to Birmingham from Coventry by old family friends. I would assume it was New Street we arrived in but the only tangible memory is a very strange looking train that I'm now fairly sure was a Blue Pullman set (class 251/261). I would have been only...

    GCR Bridge Project

Many thanks for the confirmation Phil (and again for all the regular updates). I remember the discussion about the site to the north-east some way back in this thread.

    GCR Bridge Project

Have to say, going by the standard Google Earth view, it does look like an impossibly tight squeeze. Mind you, a lot probably depends on how the space is utilised. I doubt that the current structure allowed much in the way of sophistication!

    GCR Bridge Project

Is there any news about progress with fundraising for the new shed? The feature on the website went unchanged for some considerable time and has now been removed. I notice also that there's no mention of it on the schematic showing what's required to complete the reunification project. I'd...

Manchester Metrolink....a query on a former Oldham loop line station.

Ah! Thanks for the update. Must admit I'd have been sorry to see it go. Noting which 66 is on the waste train helps to break up the journey a bit...

Manchester Metrolink....a query on a former Oldham loop line station.

This was going to be my question but you've beaten me to it. Certainly coming past this morning there's practically nothing left of the Viridor waste transfer plant. I had a look on both the Viridor and council web-sites a few days back and could see no mention of the plant so I've no idea if...

    NYMR Winter work 2019 - 2020

Just looking at those cranes, is this an example of a connection to the national network being a distinct advantage? Could cranes of a suitable size and capacity get access to the site by road?

    Weather related bridge closures?

They certainly do. I was stranded on the Edinburgh side on one occasion and had to stay with friends for the night. I don't remember the exact date but it would have been about 2004/5?

TPE Mark 5A coaching stock progress

Thanks Jamesrob637. Of course, if I'd remembered to check Sjpowermac's excellent summaries I'd have realised TP08 isn't yet in passenger service and that this must have been some sort of test run or ECS move! I'll get the hang of this one day...

TPE Mark 5A coaching stock progress

Well I'm a happy bunny this morning! Just seen my first Nova 3 set 'in the flesh'. Trouble is, it wasn't where I'd expect it. Resolution (and TP08?) was heading east-bound on the Oxford Rd - Piccadilly viaduct at about 8.15 this morning. Does anyone have any idea what service this was?

Thank you both. Showing my age here, hadn't considered the existance of a YouTube channel

AndyCK, I'm curious to know where you found this. It doesn't appear to be on the GCR web-site yet!!! Does the forum have a mole in the CGR? :D

Manchester Metrolink - Trafford Centre Extension

Looking at the article quoted in sprunt's post, 'first half of 2020', I'm wondering if they're waiting until they've taken delivery of some of the new batch of trams? I think the first is due in February?
