Until the M74 was completed almost all HGVs went via Stirling and most still do fortunately. Only strangers bring an Artic up the A82. If you drive from Crianlarich to Stirling you'll meet many more trucks.

Actually there are 4 buses per day (Travelsure )between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Reston. The first is the school bus, and goes via Coldingham, but the others go direct along the A1 until Ayton. Borders Buses also operate 5/day between Berwick-upon-Tweed and St Abbs, but don't continue to Reston.

Thanks for the information. If you look on Google maps you will see that there is an earlier bypass to East Linton which skirts the village avoiding the low bridge.

Excuse my ignorance, but I know that Newcraighall is single deckers because of its bridge, which is used by the 30 and the 106, but what brudge restricts the 38 and X7?

I have been thinking that as soon as the new access from the A1 into Queen Margaret University is complete, the 30 would be diverted and the 400 extended via the A1 and the University. Would allow the 30 to switch to deckers, wouldn't it?

Remember that there are a lot of trainees well through this training period, it shouldn't take very long before some 'get their wings'. AIUI that's what Scotrail are trying to do, get into the queue of people who have completed their 'classroom' studies.
