Long distance journeys via York on Railmiles take the shortest rioute, i.e. round the freight lines avoiding York station. You have to put your journey in as two seperate journeys, breaking at York to get the via the station mileage.

Cardiff-Pompeys were a fresh loco, they never ran round. Summer Saturday Cardiff-Weymouths however did sometimes run round, especially in later days when the 'Bucket and Spade' was the only loco hauled down the route.
Apologies if I've missed this, but I can't seem to find any reference to how many coaches these sets will be. Total length of about 200m could be achieved several ways, but 8x25m is the obvious one.
There's an unofficial footpath from the west end of the platform up the bank in the fork of the lines that's used by locals. I'm not sure where it leads, but I've seen it used a few times while transferring from the Westport train onto the 141 and cravens to Ballina and vice-versa.
Bristol-Pad on a HST was very nice in FC. The free drinks and snacks were a bonus, but not as much as the FC lounge at Pad, the free offerings there were excellent.
If they are to replace the 73s then a high EH rating is not required as they would only be working the short portions, not a full 16 coach rake. An enhanced EH rating is only needed south of Glasgow/Edinburgh.
