Introduction of York to Scarborough Northern service

I believe all Scarboro Northern services start/end in Hull so no depot at Scarboro (yet). 0533 Hull to Scarboro forms first southbound service. Until recently-2018-a Northern dmu stayed overnight at Scarboro and TPE drivers and conductors worked on the branch to Hull for Northern early and late.

    Northern launch Hull Halifax service

Hi. As far as I cd see there quite a number of cross Leeds passengers. Just very difficult for people to get off post Leeds and hence the delays.

    Northern launch Hull Halifax service

Was on 1630 Bradford to Hull tonight. Formed of 158793. Massively crowded after Leeds and had lost 9mins by South Milford. About 6mins late into Hull. Good load emptied there too. Guess its the cheaper Northern only tickets doing the business?

Introduction of York to Scarborough Northern service

Presumably Northern get a share of York to Scarboro revenues? If so that cd be the motivation. In summer may be justified but not so sure in wintertime.

Northern Connect - original plans vs. what actually happened

True but I just want Hull to Scarboro line to be reliable. Wehave been lucky in recent times but over the last week since renationalisation of Northern thete have been too many cancellstions. At least 6 today.

Introduction of York to Scarborough Northern service

In which case a total waste of resources. OK suppose it might be argued that it is an alternative to TPE but surely greater priorities.

Introduction of York to Scarborough Northern service

Is it an extension of the Blackpool to York service to Scarboro?. This isnt the most trustworthy of services atm. Can see it terminating at York on reg basis. Will tickets be interchangeable?

    Northern Class 142 sightings

3 car 144 on 1100 Bridlington to York this morning. Virtually empty as was following the 15 min late 1000 Scarboro to Sheff which picked up many of its passengers.

What changes would you like to see to Northern services?

Thanks for that info re Huddersfield platforms. We all for better services but always that INFRASTRUCTURE snag that holds back progress.

What changes would you like to see to Northern services?

You are right that direct service from Bradford to Meadowhall wd be popular. An alternative means of improving connectivity might be to extend the admittedly slow Sheffield to Huddersfield service to Halifax and Bradford. Wd remove underused and wasteful shuttle from BDF to HUDD. Free up space...

What changes would you like to see to Northern services?

I agree that it is getting the balance right that counts. Changing trains between franchises is the issue Leeds to Leicester and elsewhere. Its about ticketing options and validity, holding connections or even timetabling connections. On my line from Hull to Brid Northern connections onto TPE...

What changes would you like to see to Northern services?

That may be so but having a THROUGH service wd be desirable. Is that not the key to connectivity?

What changes would you like to see to Northern services?

Quite agree. Service needs ro be more robust and run; it is too prone to cancellations. In terms of extension of the service if it were to go on to Leicester it wd give a real East Mids to Leeds service and prob be popular too.

Trivia: Place names that you're not sure how to pronounce

What about Northenden in Manchester where rubbish trains to Runcorn load I think. North-enden or Nor-thenden?

Northern Connect - original plans vs. what actually happened

Excellent suggestion to really promote Northern Bradford to Huddersfield services to connec with Man Airport services. They are TPE though. Connectivity between franchises is an issue and needs to be improved-or just have one operator in the north. In other words a joined up railway.

Northern Connect - original plans vs. what actually happened

Yes you are right that the Brid to Leeds plan became Hull to Halifax. A good service in itself but early and late connections onto the Brid line are poor. West Yorks direct wd be far better than York.
