    Late reservations of seats

A few days ago I was coming back to Worcester from Paddington and I got caught in the scrum to get as seat due to the short length of time between the opening of the barriers and train departure. The thing is this: I have severe mobility problems and hence I tend to be left behind in the rush...

The most important question is who will have the bigger clout with the DfT: XC or the local authorities and MPs ....

Both right. The Kay's building in St Johns has been demolished but the monstrosity (which is ex-Kays) still remains. This site gives details of the proposed development: http://www.ggassociates.co.uk/articles.php?artid=29&l=1# Note that there is a proposal for a footbridge across to the...

    Worcestershire Parkway station progress

It is known as Elgar Tower and is probably the most detested building in the city ( and it has strong competition - Cathedral Plaza; the college). Unfortunately it is not part of the redevelopment plan: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hereford-worcester-18249152

Indeed. So let's not stop at any small commuter town. Goodbye Burton, Stafford, Tamworth, Nuneaton, Chesterfield .... All of which have populations less than that of Worcester. I suspect the list could grow somewhat as well. BTW Worcester is a city not a town.

Comparing one crap service with another is not very convincing! :D Also: Population Ripon - 16,702; Population Worcester - 99,600 (prob over 100,000 now ....) ( Both figures from the 2011 census) They both might be cities but there is a slight difference in size .....

Totally and utterly agree. Just looked at times from Worcester SH to Briz TM leaving now ( 11:15 ).... The earliest I can arrive in Bristol is 14:39 .....

    Worcestershire Parkway station progress

Totally agree. The "let's not stop anywhere in case it disrupts the timetable" is just daft. No, I don't expect every train to stop at every piddling little station but the idea behind Worcestershire Parkway is that it is to be a major hub for the whole of the county south of Bromsgrove.

It would make a lot of sense to serve both lines. Parking at Foregate Street is non-existant; SH poor

Not 100% clear "As well as the Government's funding commitment the Department for Transport has agreed to support talks with train operators to ensure they use the two platforms at Norton. They will serve current Cotswold Line services, heading to Oxford and London, of which talks are...

    Live Map Shows Train Network

No it isn't real time - nor is it claimed to be. The important bit is on the drop-down "About": "This tracker provides movement visualization of transit data published by transit agencies and operators from all over the world. The movements are mostly based on static schedule data. "...

International agreements on Units of Measurement

The key point is this "those listed in Chapter II of the Annex only in those Member States where they were authorised on 21 April 1973;" The UK joined the EEC on the 1st Jan of that year so I assume that that refers to the UK and Ireland.

    Assisted travel LM

My friend went to the QE and, unlike the official attitude, found the guys on the ground more than helpful. Arrived at University and it was "Let us know if there is anything we can do on the way back - change trains etc" In fact that was precisely what happened. Arrived back from the QE and...

    Assisted travel LM

I am writing this on behalf of a friend who has a severely disabled son and who is wheelchair bound. Tomorrow they are heading up to the QE in Birmingham from Worcester and are trying to sort out assisted travel. Going is not a problem since they know exactly which train they are catching to...

    UK Storms

Superbly trenchant comment to a poor article in the Grauniad today: "This is a bizarre article. "Yes, ok, 100 trees on the line... fine, but you're still rubbish. And the weather wasn't that bad, really, was it? And what about leaves on the line, eh? Ha! Got you there!" Is it too much to ask...
