Zip Oyster 5-11 & NR from TfL zone boundary

How interesting. How enforceable is section 8.3: Are they really saying that a 5-year-old must pick up the phone and call TfL to let them know that they've lost their photocard?

Zip Oyster 5-11 & NR from TfL zone boundary

So. I have news. First some background. When the zip 5-10 card was first introduced it allowed free travel on TfL services and child (same as zip 11-15) rate travel on late adopting National Rail services. Since introduction free travel has been extended to the whole of zones 1-9, but some...

Advice for arguing penalty fare despite tap in during journey

I went to Kentish Town yesterday. I noticed a poster that I hadn't seen before. Still problems, the dark blue bit really shouldn't be there. And it was only next to one of the validators, not the one on the opposite side of the path. One day they'll get it right. 1786349246 Oh joy! A friend...

Fare question - passing through gate lines twice at a station

Take some screenshots of this journey history if you can. Something is going on.

Advice for arguing penalty fare despite tap in during journey

Which you almost certainly were as the signage on those validators leaves a lot to be desired. It definitely would. Well the inspector needs some re-training so hopefully your appeal will lead to that.

Fare question - passing through gate lines twice at a station

That is quite surprising. If you can get your wife to sign up and get hers it should show what has happened. Scenario 1: The system has failed to join the journeys together. Scenario 2: One of the 4 gates used has a clock which is either fast or slow. Either way the helpdesk will almost...

Fare question - passing through gate lines twice at a station

I've just logged into my account on the website, so everything ought to be available now.

SWR cracking down on Vauxhall - Waterloo doughnuts/short fares - Also GTR

Maybe, though it could be a number of stations. Queenstown Road has the additional jeopardy that hardly any trains call there, and those that do only use a small number of platforms at Waterloo.

Fare question - passing through gate lines twice at a station

Have you looked at the times on the two journey history statements? If the double charge one is 10 minutes then I'm sure that the helpdesk will adjust the charge. You may not be the only one complaining if it was down to a long queue.

Project Oval: TfL win DfT contract to expand contactless system to 233 rail stations by May 2024, Railcards coming to contactless payment cards

Ah, right, I hadn't looked that far in. To be honest, I'm not surprised with some of those because you are starting off by going the wrong way.

Outcome from C5 Fare Dodgers at War with the Law

Can someone explain what this means? Did he have to pay the £2000 as well or is the compensation all that TfL got (plus costs)?

    60+ Oyster to Stansted

Thanks for the update. The statement that Oyster cards are not valid beyond Tottenham Hale is correct for PAYG Oyster cards. If the Oyster card has a travelcard on it then it is valid to the boundary of the outer zone of the travelcard as long as a separate ticket is held to cover the rest of...

Project Oval: TfL win DfT contract to expand contactless system to 233 rail stations by May 2024, Railcards coming to contactless payment cards

Nothing recent, though the change from Cubic to Indra is supposed to mean long talked about improvements will now happen. Yes, there is a new OSI at Windsor. I covered it on my site last month https://oysterfares.com/new-windsor-osi/. I'm curious to know which journey you've found where the...

    Caught By Tfl

Very unlikely, because ... I'm sure that that is genuine then. Yes and no. Because you weren't touched in at the time you touched your card on the inspection device you will be charged a revenue inspection charge which I believe is £16.30. You may also be charged an exit charge when you...

Advice for arguing penalty fare despite tap in during journey

Just seen this. I'm not sure about whether it is normal to send a second appeal to a different place, but it seems legitimate. Follow the instructions and use the wording suggested. West Ham is a nightmare for people changing trains - I have heard revenue officers insist that people touch there...

On declined payment due to insufficient balance

A charge of £0.10 is almost certainly just an authorisation. That should get replaced by the proper charge at the end of the day, but sometimes it is just left to fall off after a few days. On your bank statement online it should show as pending, or similar. It won't get refunded as such, it...

    60+ Oyster to Stansted

No. The restriction mentions London Midland between Harrow & Wealdstone and Watford Junction. It should be London Northwestern Railway. Well, if Stanstead Express is excluded then it shouldn't be valid between Liverpool Street and Tottenham Hale. If it is valid on those trains (as GA seem to...

    60+ Oyster to Stansted

There has been a long battle with GA and TfL, over validity of the 60+. That page you linked to has undergone a revision recently to try and make it clearer. The mention of Liverpool Street to Stratford is because that section is valid from 9am rather than 9.30am because of the interavailability.
