    Porthmadog Stations

Of course true, I know all the politics but I find it incredibly short sighted that a request stop interchange station was never constructed where the WHR and WHRH meet

Trivia: UK rails shared with roads (level crossing/ narrow gauge, metros excluded)

Sadly never got to see a train on the Weymouth harbour although seen many online videos and due to our regime of keeping railways fenced off and away from the public, (unlike the continent.) Very few lines existed in the first place There are some incredible street scenes in many third world...

Swanage GWR 56xx 6695 off the road!

That is sad to hear I suspect looking at the odd angle the loco was sitting at with a hump in the bed track, that at least one axle has ended up taking more than its fair share of the load Hopefully hasn't bent or cracked the frames :(

Swanage GWR 56xx 6695 off the road!

Good news , at least the loco appears fine although I am guessing some of the locos springs have a bit more load than they normally would

Swanage GWR 56xx 6695 off the road!

Or rather the low loader it is on is, looks like hydraulic or structural failure of the low loader which according to the press has taken a gouge out the road. being reportedly moved to a steam rally at Taunton. Luckily loco appears fine. imagine some track will need to be laid to get her off so...

    Incident West of Hungerford?

Aside the obvious breakdown in the process of being able to get a 999 call through to the appropriate area of NWR to halt train in the locality, it is incredibly fortunate the train hit the smaller amount of debris. If you look at the RAIB picture taken by the car driver which was pre train...

    Broken Sleepers - Safety?

I posted some info on their form about a broken road LC deck and they had the bed up the next weekend Doesn't hurt it is not like the old days when the old platelayers used to own and live in the section. Obviously buckled track on a hot day is an emergency call to NWR However something as...

    "Token" operated signalling problems?

Hi Tom must have been as the train was stuck for over an hour at Grosmont while we all waited at Whitby with no other stock on the line between Grosmont and Whitby. TBH I wasn't taking much notice of trackside signage and operation being on a day trip from Pickering with the family under strict...

    "Token" operated signalling problems?

LOL I am sure someone with technical understanding of quite what goes wrong on the Whitby line with RETB will be along soon but I gathered from the NYMR staff at the time that it was not an uncommon thing to happen which makes running a profitable on time heritage service kind of hard

    "Token" operated signalling problems?

And dont think going over to electronics helps. We were stuck for over an hour in Aug 2012 at Whitby waiting for the return afternoon NYMR steamer over the NWR section after the token got lost in the ether and stopped the job. We were told someone had to go and retrieve it with portable...
