Old signalling equipment by platform 24 at Waterloo?

Training area does make sense. Don't think it has much (any?) use anymore judging by the tree growth!

Old signalling equipment by platform 24 at Waterloo?

Anyone know the history of the collection of old signalling and point equipment next to platform 24 in Waterloo? Was it an area for S&T testing?

When to defend and when not to defend the railway

I think the main frustration for rail workers at all levels, is that the public and especially the press think that operating the railways in the UK "should be simple/easy" where in fact it is incredibly complex and things which a layman think can be done easily/quickly usually cannot. The...

Collision and derailment near Salisbury (Fisherton Tunnel) 31/10/21

BTP even use that exact line about the tunnel: "Both trains were travelling in the same direction and one train struck the side of the other, causing it to derail whilst in the tunnel"

    A career as a signaller

I think for a good few years all new signallers have been classed as "apprentices". The old NR careers website had the "willing to relocate option" but I don't think the new portal (which doesn't actually seem to be advertised or link to the careers section on the NR website) has this... As...

    A career as a signaller

Does Network rail allow re-location for signallers now? I've no real family/house ties to my current area and am happy to move to different parts of the UK for a new job/career, but it says on NR signaller adverts: "We are looking for Signaller apprentices for the specific locations named in...

    A career as a signaller

Wondering if anyone can help? What is the shift pattern in a signal box that closes out overnight? I have read somewhere it works out a 7 early shifts then 2/3 day off, followed by 7 late shifts then 2/3 off. Or is it more complicated than this?
