    Chiltern 121's

Hi there. Was just wondering if anyone (probably so) has been down to Aylesbury/Princess Risborough to catch a ride on the 2 121's? Is it worth going & do they use the Bubbles on a regular basis? Full marks to Chiltern btw, from what ive seen on youtube 121034 looks lovely :)

    More coaches would be nice

Agreed sir, & its a shame because local tourism has to suffer? Now if a visitor to Scarborough + wife/family have a crushed journey then it doesnt start the holiday off well! Another case in point has been the Nottingham-Skegness service. I remember travelling (Jolly Fisherman special) in a rake...

ELR Type 3 Running Day 7th Jan 2012

Yeah me too :) Im driving & had planned to park right next to Bolton Street, i had presumed that area behind the trackside bar was theirs anyway?

    More coaches would be nice

Point taken, & im not here to have a rant at the TOCs. With regards to the Norwich Liverpool services there was 20-30 years ago, im not sure! but even if there was half the frequency in the years gone by, then maybe a 31 + 6 coaches would still provide more seats than 2 hourly 170's? unless the...

Could a class 124 be rebuilt??

Right I see, ive joined here to get upto scratch on current events, my knowledge is a bit rusty at the moment :) well any such group would get my backing! By the way, the arriva tw 121 is still in service? i knew about Chiltern's 121 down at Princess Risborough, & where is the other unit if...

    Favourite Preserved Diesels

Well said, saw this loco at Matlock, maybe 87/88ish? it was inside a shed & its owner (who's name i cant remember) showed me around. It will be a fantastic moment seeing this loco in action again, or should i call it Bo-Co? :)

Could a class 124 be rebuilt??

I agree, i believe there is a market given the unrivalled views you can get out of 'Daisy' & co. Am i right in saying there isnt currently a mainline registered first gen unit out there? apart from departmental ones & the chiltern bubble car? Money however would be my concern tho :| The Midland...

    More coaches would be nice

Agreed! which begs the question about re-opening the Woodhead route? I presume after all the campaigns to reopen this route, its still 'dead in the water'?

    More coaches would be nice

Well i had heard that EMT had doubled up their Norwich Liverpool service but ive had a 2-car every time on my recent journeys along this line. Guess its me & my bad timing  --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Thanks for the info! bloody hell it was a nightmare coming back from...

    More coaches would be nice

Thanks for your thoughts! I guess my experiences as a nipper enjoying a corridoor compartment to myself will never be enjoyed again! It seems we may have gone from one extreme to the other? Please correct me if im wrong but with regards to The Hope Valley line, is the longest public...

    More coaches would be nice

Hello, newbie so please be gentle!:) Browsing through a mid 80's article in Traction Magazine, im reminded how many loco hauled coaches there used to be on the services i used as a kid, usually 6-10 as a rule. Since taking up my 'Railway Enthusiast' role again & visiting the NRM, East Lancs to...
