Big shame, without stating the obvious its sad to see this happen to an item of our history (which escaping the cutters torch after all these years now succumbs to this :()
Oh dear, at least the camera went out in a blaze of glory!? :) Yes thats a fair few 'pairs' presumably being cobbled together for a few busy school/commuter runs later in the day!? Ah the site of a train type that you want, isnt it a top moment!? Also its amazing how quick time goes on these...
Ahhh yes, vague (at best) memories of that junction are just about there from my memory of leaning out of the window en route to Abergele! Your picture of 47470 leaving Rhyl with 'Dick the Lamps' highlights how big this station was! Thanks again Dave, superb pictures :)
Hello
Here's a few more pics from my visit to the ELR DMU Day at the East Lancs recently, a great day & the line showcased their 101, 108 & an 121/2 hybrid, hope you enjoy :)
Nice photos dude! thanks for sharing :) liking photo 7 of 10, highlighting the 2 types of train! I presume years ago there wasnt the need to change at Kirkby!? & the final piccy, Blackpool South?
Sadly im not treated to any 142/3/4's at Derby & ive never seen one come through :( They...
Some great pics there, only just touched the surface of your site as well :) without wishing to alter the course of this thread the DMU pics are superb! I was a regular visitor to Rhyl/Llandudno in my teens & thankfully my parents took me by train.
Back then Rhyl had its island platform...
Ha ha, thats because im instantly forgetable :) its why im single  Cheers for the info on the 101. My knowledge is still poor on 1st gen units even tho they are one of my favourite preserved locos!
Here's looking forward to the Llangollen Diesel day on the 30th. I see their 104 is out...
Lets hope not, ever. Part of the joy for many people (including myself) :) is a quick peek out of the window to enjoy the sights and sounds on a preserved line! Fond memories of skirting along the North Wales coast as a teenager head out of DMU/37/HST at speed. Fantastic!
Just a little care &...
Ah dude, wasnt on that little excursion! :( Thanks for sharing the pic! I was the guy in the 'Coldplay Cap' who fluked 'the golden seat' on the first 121/2 run upto Rawtenstall, video/photo opportunity of the day i thought!!
Yeah i think the 108 rumbles & rattles like a first gen DMU...
Hello.
Had a muchly enjoyable time at the ELR's DMU event today, a few pictures enclosed :)
Certainly the star for me was the mixed livery 108 & the lovely sounding engine(s) that come with it! Decent turnout, tho i heard a couple of folk had left disappointed that there wasn't a steam...
Thats interesting :) didnt think they existed on smart phones! i suppose the price is reflected in the fact that there is zilch competition? Would have to include a couple of British lines & locos for me to part with £6 on an app!
Thanks for the info tho
Thanks for sharing the video :) It highlights the astronomical amount of work needed to see a Diesel Loco preserved! Am i right in thinking 016 is the only 58 in preservation so far?
Ps tremendous work Adam & the group, you are superstars in my eyes :)
Greetings.
Not 100% convinced a trip report thread should be here but here goes! Took myself off to the Battlefield Line today, first ever visit.
73114 was the loco in charge. Not too many visitors around but a friendly guard to me that 'it should of covered costs for the day' I guess...
