Hi there.

Was just wondering if anyone (probably so) has been down to Aylesbury/Princess Risborough to catch a ride on the 2 121's? Is it worth going & do they use the Bubbles on a regular basis? Full marks to Chiltern btw, from what ive seen on youtube 121034 looks lovely :)

Last I heard they were used on the AM/PM "peaks" Monday - Friday. Haven't been on them, but have seen them. Been meaning to go and try and get a ride on them soon.

The diagrams are over on this thread in the Traction and Rolling Stock forum.

Most certainly is worth it :p Great little machines, both of them. Just be sure you use thr right door, and not the Guard's door as one of this Forum's very own found out a while back

I can confirm that they only operate peak shuttles.

Indeed, they are only used to free up another unit to do a working out of Marylebone. Personally I think the 121 should do the working out of Marylebone ;) (ok maybe not!)

It's a bit of a mystery why they don't use the bubbles on all the Risborough branch workings now that they have two of them? Could pair them up for busy runs!

There has only been one bubble car available for use for at least the last couple of months. 121020 is away for repairs, at Tyseley I think.

Hi, and thanks for the info! surely Chiltern have taken a hit in the piggy bank for keeping these units in regular(ish) service!? fair play to them i guess :)

Using the 121 requires a guard whereas when the trains runs using a 165 it can run DOO. The use of a 165 in the daytime saves the use of a guard.
