SWR Class 458 to be retained

Last weekend one of the 458s was stabled at Feltham. Presumably the one used Mon to Fri on Hounslow services. So not in use at the weekend

Oxford Corridor Phase 2 & Platform 5 updates

When they widened the road bridge over the tracks at Feltham a few years ago it was moving the utilities that caused major delays. Seems that they had to move them separately rather than at the same time

Trivia: Most single journeys performed by one unit in a day's diagram

Last week it was still a shuttle, but that was weekday off peak

Unusual message on SWR re railcards

On Thursday evening I took the 20:50 train from Waterloo to Bracknell. On several occasions the PIS displayed a message saying that tickets purchased with a Railcard were (invalid or not permitted) on this service. I can't remember the exact phrasing. This is not the case as far as I know...

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

Saw it speed through Richmond So it didn't call there. Not sure if it is related but the following Windsor service was 8 minutes late. Door release at all stations was painfully slow and could have caused the delay.

    Feltham station car park

Feltham is my local station. People pick up and drop off all the time. You will only get into trouble if you enter the bus stop area on the other side of the station as cars are not permitted.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

I am sure I heard that SWR claimed that it slowed up unloading at stations at a time when they were trying to shave seconds off dwell times. Passengers waiting until the last moment to stow tables and struggling to exit 1716043524 Some of the earlier discussions on dwell times.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

Agreed, plus there are many more points where they could be fitted. I never believed the argument that seat back tables slow down dwell times.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

But as they are running regularly on the Windsor services what is to stop them being fully booked on those services and the appropriate staff trained
