News report of the measures taken by a GP surgery in Liverpool.
Full PPE the whole time? Surely the GP could sit well away from the patient and only don PPE if a close physical examination is needed?
Cleaning down the visiting room between every...
So for nearly a quarter of a century of I've followed the sheep and fallen for the marketing of Gillette and Wilkinson Sword. I had a dalliance with King of Shaves and more recently Harry's and finally Shavekit.
Last week, pretty much on a whim I bought myself a double edge safety razor and a...
Hi guys,
Before COVID came along, I promised myself that I would have a trip to the Isle of Wight to have a ride in the 1938 stock before it's too late.
I'm thinking of doing this in the next couple of months or so.
A cursory look at SWR website tells me there is an hourly service. It also...
Theoretical (for now) question.
I may need to do a work related day trip to somewhere near the south coast in the next few weeks.
My preference, as usual, would be to take the train rather than drive. It's better for the environment, means I can use my time productively and is safer than...
Just perusing time for Diss to London and return next week.
Noticed the 1700 departure from Liverpool Street is shown as calling at Ipswich and Diss instead of just Ipswich.
The 1702 is shown as calling at Shenfield etc to Ispwich whereas previously it had the usual intercity cally pattern...
As per title. It's struck me on several occasions that delay repay would be better administered the the RDG or some other central body than by individual TOCs. This would be better for both passengers and TOCs.
Case in point. Today I was 1 hour 2 minutes late on my Attleborough to Sleaford...
I think there are 2 745s in service Norwich to London at present. I think they stay on the save diagram reach weekday. Could someone be kind enough to post them please?
Thanks.
Collected some tickets for a journey I'm doing to Edinburgh in March. Managed to bag a bargain first class fare outward, but I digress.
The TVM I collected them from has a fault at the moment in that some of the letters, digits and spaces are squashed up, as though the mechanism is slipping.
So...
Are EMR short of servicable 158s at the moment?
Lots of Norwich - Liverpool route trains seem to be covered by 156s at the moment, and a few set swaps at Nottingham too.
Any particular reason for this?
If I wanted to feedback my appreciation to particular train crew, what would be the best way of doing that after the event?
Would an email to the TOC be passed down to the right people?
It's EMR if that makes a difference, they did a brilliant job this evening when it all went to pot.
Inspired by the most historical stations thread, which have an air of faded grandeur?
My starter is Spalding. Handsome station building, but now only 2 platforms, with a footbridge to nowhere, supported on scaffolding on the edge of a housing estate built on the site of more platforms. Goods...
Just boarded a 158 at Ely. It doesn't have the usual high backed seats with headrests, but low backed seats with much thicker cushions. The plastic hand holds seem vaguely familiar.
I'm a bit confused as the seats look brand new (as opposed to the thread bare and stained condition of most of the...
Pleasantly surprised this morning.
Arrived Attleborough to find the ticket machine U/S as it is about 50% of the time. Only today it wasn't displaying an out of service message, but was frozen on a screen saying "Please collect your tickets and receipts".
There was a help button, which worked...
I usually do Attleborough - Sleaford splitting at Spalding. But next week I need flexibility to come back via Grantham.
I was investigating splitting options via PBO to facilitate this. I usually catch the 0833 Peterborough to Lincoln service.
I saw this ticket, which at first would appear to...
Does anyone know what the explanation for this is?
The journey options with no ticket radio buttons are via Ely and Birmingham, the others all via Cambridge and London. There are no single tickets available on the cross country route either.
What's the point in displaying the itinerary for a...
If it was cheaper to buy an anytime single and an off peak single than a return ticket, how should one claim delay repay?
Calculated on the price of the single for the delayed leg only, or for the full value of the return journey?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-essex-50745553/lorry-stuck-on-essex-crossing-barrier-almost-hit-by-train
Shocking. How on earth could rail industry workers think it was a good idea to wave a lorry over a level crossing whilst the lights are flashing?
Apologies if this is a stupid question, but is a day travel card bought from a provincial station (eg return travel to London including tube use) valid on Thameslink to/from London Bridge?
Almost every NR employee I've seen is dressed head to foot in orange overalls, safety boots etc.
This morning at my local station, there were 2 casually dressed young lads. No saftey boots. One had a generic yellow hi viz vest, the other an orange one with a hand drawn NR logo on the back.
They...
