Or could do what has been done with the Perry Barr closure (different circumstances but still) and gain acceptance on local buses for tickets marked Spondon.
All this reminds me of the West Midlands Trains timetable change Cancellations, skipping stops, very late running etc.

Birmingham New Street to Shrewsbury has an anomaly.
On a booking engine when you're after an off peak ticket - not tied to a TOC or Advance - then you may be offered an E-Ticket if you select a WMR service or an M-Ticket if you select a Tfw service even though both are valid on each any TOC on...

Listed here as after HS2 PHASE 2b as that's when there would be the capacity on the Birmingham - Derby line.
Wouldn't the plan for the ivanhoe line to terminate in the long disused or indeed if ever used bay platform?
Also the long term plan is to terminate Birmingham Cross City north at Burton too so the current layout would need a major overhaul for this.
to be fair Andy Street, Westmids mayor is interested in greater connections to more places north than just Tamworth. For instance extending the cross city line to Burton and adding a couple of new stations along the route one of them a parkway at Alrewas.
