Hythe ferry ceasing operation at the end of the year...

But I did wonder at the motivation behind Husain's repeated question about the average amount of pay lost by RMT members during the strike. To the outsider it's of no relevance, and the RMT members affected will already know how much they have lost. So it was hardly a question at all, just a way...
Go South Coast (the Bluestar owner) certainly isn't happy:
"The proposals will impact our customers and not meet the strategic aims of the scheme by increasing social exclusion, reducing access to sustainable transport and worsen connectivity and therefore impacting negatively on levelling up"...
A little harsh on Ms Cat I feel!
The real problem with the sound on that programme is the insistence on adding background music to the studio discussions. When they also have model trains running round a layout adding to the background noise, I too would be opting for subtitles, were they...
Have been to Portbou a few times in recent years. It's smart enough, although the large building is mostly empty. It looks as though there was a large buffet in there at one point which is now abandoned but not removed - peering through the windows one can see food display counters and an old...
Out of interest, trying to do Ringwood to Christchurch by public transport these days - bus, of course - seems to take a minimum of about 41 minutes, always involving a change of buses, and some (Google-)suggested journeys are one and a quarter hours.
And don't expect any through-ticketing onto...
On a related topic, if I go to the SWR website, and search with default settings for:
Waterloo - Hinton Admiral, Sat 12 Nov, afternoon
I am offered the following, all with 2 changes:
13:20-16:04 02:44 £27.80 (partly bus)
14:20-17:04 02:44 £49.00 (partly XC)
15:20-18:04 02:44 £27.80...
Sorry, if I'd seen that previous thread I'd've posted in there rather than starting this new one.
Question though - as a layman, it seems surprising that 35 miles of track (SOU-POO) needs to be closed all day for engineering works. How many actual work sites would have been spread out along...
Back on topic though, it's nice that a shuttle bus is apparently being provided between Sway and Brockenhurst... But as it doesn't show on live departure boards, how will people in Sway know that it exists, and when to catch it....
The lines between Poole and Southampton Central are closed this weekend for engineering works.
Unfortunately the smaller stops are not being served at all by rail-replacement buses...
A local councillor on Facebook has been posting about this:

This business about 'passing at Marchwood' sounds wrong to me, although I'm no expert on the details of the proposal. Won't any passing be done at Totton?
If he is confused or is being...
Ah that's a great shame, RTC haven't had much luck this month with 2 out of 3 cancelled - let's hope the financial consequences haven't been too severe for them... Thanks for confirming!
To-morrow is the last day of the consultation - https://consultations.networkrail.co.uk/communications/waterside-line/ - and there's an online survey that can be filled in if you wish!
Fingers crossed that the public response has been overwhelmingly positive.
What "channels" are/were available from those little panels? Just BBC radio stations? How did the train receive them, FM or AM? Was the signal lost in tunnels?
"From 22 . until 24 . August only railcars will be in service."
Ah, arrived in Poznan to-day, was planning to visit Wolsztyn on 22nd or 23rd (leaving 24th)... Ho hum!
