Without trying to alarm you, i'd be alarmed if i were you. The only time i've known of the sample going to the second stage is when they've found something and they just need to quantify it.

They're just locked out of use and have a full inspection when next on depot (or i imagine they could at a platform with suitably trained staff)

Be interesting to see the report on this. Power car lifeguards are only secured by two 8.8 grade M16 fasteners, i've seen several come in with missing bolts and the lifeguard at an angle.

I'd be interested in seeing this coupling equipment. The standard bars carried in the guards van on HST power cars ( or certainly GWR's) are for either power car to power car or a standard draw hook and they can only be used to rescue a failure.

The unloader valve just dumps the air between the compressor and the check valve so that when the compressor starts up again, it's not starting up to a pressurised system. Basically taking the load off of the compressor.

Except you haven't, the bloke died attempting it so no cable got stolen, proving that nicking OHLE cable with 25kv running through it is tricky

Was it 43025 that had the fire that was believe it or not, down to a coolant leak? I believe coolant had leaked onto the turbo and ignited.
