322's are basically 320's with an additonal coach that has 2 toilets in it and beefier motors.
320's haven't had anything upgraded traction motor wise, just lateral dampers and upgraded WSP electronics and a few electronic links added/removed. They were always 90mph capable, just not set-up...
I never said they were passed to do 90mph. They were designed capable of 90mph. They were not set-up to do so, unlike now with dampers and the 90mph electronics.
They use the same motors as 318's so I don't think so.
They can (and have) go to Shields to be turned around. I think they use Shields head shunt.

When did this come about?
318's operate these services too and they have a totally different pantograph.
Why would it be an embarassment?
They have pretty much the same pantograph as 318's so I doubt it is a pantograph issue.
I would imagine the risk assessments are for staff and passengers otherwise it would not have been allowed to travel up on its own power. As for the other changes, nothing much is different apart from locations of pre existing equipment, floor lighting and door controls.
I would imagine that...
320314 has been at Shields for staff training on the new toilet. No point sending it out if nobody has a clue how to rectify simple faults whilst it's out on service.
There is only one mural affected and it has been retained (although not the original).
It's not not traction motor cooling, it is the battery charger and various control electronics.
No more work is planned for the unit, infact I had heard that if there was a bad reaction to the mix of internal livery (with the fold up seating) it would be reverse liveried into the green with red stripes!
Happens quite regularly on the Balloch express at Partick. People just jump on and despite the driver coming on the PA or replaying the PIS message that Dumbarton central is the next stop someone always gets caught.
They then start to blame everyone else but themselves for it.
