Ha, I suspect it’s the more practical matter of working from the station towards the road so their vehicles don’t ruin the earlier work…
My concern is that the station might look ready but has it actually been commissioned and signed off?
A lot of the kerbs and paths are in place now, I think it’s a matter of a small number of weeks worth of work before they’re finished based on their rate of progress thus far.
The article I linked to in https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/ashley-down-station-construction-updates.241979/page-6#post-6864854 seems to represent the best info available and I couldn’t find the minutes from the referenced WECA meeting.

“Ashley Down station is scheduled to open either at “the end of August or early September”, giving people living in the area a new option to travel by train.”
It’s a minor issue but it looks like the new Ashley Down station has its down platform on the wrong line (should be DFR) and in the wrong section. Its up platform on UFR looks correct.
I’m guessing this is some kind of LED lighting but what determines its placement? It wasn’t obviously lighting points or a walking route… It was spotted near Crewe…
We’ll be travelling with a small baby so would not want to really change our journey or commit to a particular timed train but if any splits work on a 0944 departure from BPW, I’d be happy to hear about them! I had a quick play but didn’t spot any significant improvements by splitting at BHM. I...
I’m planning to travel from Bristol to Glasgow on an off-peak return and then a few days later to return with an overnight stop at some intermediate station.
The Conditions of Carriage (section 16) say the following:
How do I know ‘where allowed’? Assuming I buy from Crosscountry’s website...
Now the ‘bricks’ are apparently being clipped onto the metal slats. This isn’t a technology I’m familiar with, are they some kind of brick tiles?
Also, have the actual lifts been fitted? There can’t be many other large jobs left to do now…
The main lines at Ashley Down were blocked yesterday with wood decking on the track, presumably to give vehicle access from the Station Lane access point. Does anyone know what this related to?
With today's (Thursday 7th December) strike, I believe there's a hourly service between Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads but apparently these trains are scheduled to pass through Bath Spa without stopping. Does anyone know why?
I follow South & East Rail Group (SERG) on Twitter and they give the impression of being insightful but it occurred to me that I have no idea whether they're legit.
Their website is minimal to say the least. Does anyone know who or what SERG are?
Should they be taken seriously?
Edit:
I...
A slightly tangential question but typically how fast would a Bristol to Paddington train pass Old Oak Common at the moment? Have they started slowing for Paddington by then?
