Apologies if I’ve missed it when scanning this thread but do we know what timings these new services would be? Am I right in thinking this represents an extra Bristol, Bath, Chippenham, Swindon train every two hours?
Is there any way that I can be alerted (presumably by email) when a service starts or reaches a specified point? One use case would be to know when a passenger train that I plan to catch starts its journey on a specified day. Another would be when a freight train scheduled for multiple days...
I can’t find the video anywhere other than Facebook but here is a video showing the installation of Charfield’s lift shafts, bridge and steps: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17js1fqeyM/?mibextid=wwXIfr
It looks to be a Network Rail video shared by “South Gloucestershire Council StreetCare”.
I’m on the return leg of an off-peak return so that sounds ok.

So, I can only buy on board and it should be £15 as per https://www.brfares.com/!faredetail?orig=PLY&dest=BRI&expert=on&flow=2&multi=0&fare=0&rte=24&tkt=XCU ?
What’s the best way to get an upgrade to first tomorrow (Saturday 18th April) between Plymouth and Bristol on CrossCountry? Seatfrog are saying £33 for an upgrade but https://www.brfares.com/!faredetail?orig=PLY&dest=BRI&expert=on&flow=2&multi=0&fare=0&rte=24&tkt=XCU suggests it should only be...
BBC news: New train stations could connect city's outskirts
If I understand this article correctly, I think it means a potential direct Portishead to Brabazon service. I'd be very happy if this also resulted in an increase on the 1 tph service that Ashley Down currently has...

BBC news: HS2 trains could run slower than planned to save money
I’ve been looking for discussion of this news but couldn’t find anything. Have I missed it? What do people think?
Has anyone travelled on the refurbished set(s) and can comment on whether the mobile phone / GPS reception is any better? I think there was suggestion that it might improve because of the removal of the metallic solar glazing film but it would be good to see whether this has actually happened. I...
For years (on Three now, for many years) I’ve had effectively zero mobile coverage on many journeys in the region between Plymouth and Glasgow. Additionally, it seems to stop GPS too which I don’t get on any other trains, my phone often hasn’t realised I’ve left my originating station despite...
Do we know if there will be any improvements to the WiFi / cellular connectivity? These are currently as good as zero in my experience and an XC journey has an element of involuntary digital-detox to it which often isn't what I want!
Longer IET formations have the front carriage not at the platform with two or maybe three doors disabled when departing Bath Spa westbound. This often results in drama from the occupants of the front carriage when they realise they have to be in the second carriage to alight.
