Nick Clegg: Continued use of Pacer trains in North is ludicrous

But that's the point I'm making, it's obvious it can't be justified by whoever makes the decisions or it would've been addressed. It wouldn't happen in London anyway, they would get new shiny buses and trains and we would get the cast off solo's :D All joking aside, Northern mask these issues...

Nick Clegg: Continued use of Pacer trains in North is ludicrous

As someone who travels on the donkeys very regularly here is my take on it. They are uncomfortable yes, but for my journey of 45 mins they are bearable. What I want is that they turn up on time, and get me to where I am going, and that is what the general public also want. What the big problem...

    Merseyrail RPI's

I have applied for a few Merseyrail jobs, whilst I am resigned to the fact that they just don't like me, I have only ever had 1 thanks but no thanks through the post about 6 weeks later so I wouldn't hold your breath if you are expecting to hear anything quickly.

    Merseyrail new stock

I don't understand where the costs relating to the procurement come into it. It's a staggering amount of money. Surely Mersey rail put out their requirements, train companies come back with the options after all, Merseyrail are the customer... Where is the justification to spending millions of...

    Merseyrail new stock

Do we honestly think that Merseyrail will see any new rolling stock within the next 15 years. I very much doubt it. In fact in my opinion with that article I feel like the seed has been sewn and the subject will go quiet (especially if the current stocks remain reliable)

    Merseyrail new stock

Didn't Merseyrail / Merseytravel try to get full control over the network a few years ago but where prevented from doing so by the Government or am I totally wrong?

    Merseyrail new stock

This is the bit I don't understand, who would've footed the bill to bring them up to standard.

    Merseyrail new stock

Here is my though basis ref Merseyrail new stock. I firmly believe a re-work of the existing trains will happen. They are tried / tested and fairly reliable. And with similar units soon to be replaced around the country, there should be no shortage of extra stock that can be reworked in a...

    Merseyrail new stock

I've got to say, one thing Mersey rail do really well is Grand National weekend, in my opinion the staff aren't praised enough for a great job. Year after Year Merseyrail are responsible for getting thousands of race goers to and from Aintree, without anybody really thinking about it. I went...

    Merseyrail new stock

I don't understand all the talk about conversions and overhead cables etc. Merseyrail works fine as it is, any extensions that are required, if ever they so happen to the network can be catered for by third rail.. Personally I can see the current trains being re-engineered, I presume if the 318...

    Merseyrail Cl507/8 internal refresh research

Some Pictures of the new livery on Maarten Spaargaren's twitter page..It's certainly different, very corporate, looks more like a giant advert than a livery but it looks good.

    Merseyrail Cl507/8 internal refresh research

I read the article in the Echo and I have to say it's the first time I've heard about the option of an extensive re-work for the current fleet. Do you think this is a seed being planted ? If this is an option, how realistic can it be. Would the 507/8's be completely stripped back and rebuilt...

    Merseyrail Cl507/8 internal refresh research

All seems a bit strange to me, in my opinion the Mersey rail trains internally are in relatively good condition considering some of the other rolling stock around the North West. Spending I presume a few million on the refresh seems strange if the new trains are on the horizon for the end of the...

    Diesel particulate filters on trains?

I have nothing to add other than whoever invented / designed and approved DPF'S should be strung up and be left there and forgotten about...They are a nuisance, and create more issues than they solve. If they are fitted to more than your family car / light commercial vehicle I can assure you...

    Merseyrail Customer facing roles

I don't think there is actually a "right" way to apply for jobs with Mersey rail. We can all demonstrate how our skills are applicable, what I don't get was I used all similar examples that got me through an interview and to an assessment day with another operator (I couldn't attend as I was...
