New platforms for Liverpool Lime Street

Certainly seems daft considering you can still drive straight into the car park one floor above as well as into the station itself via the taxi rank and car park on the others side of the shed.

New platforms for Liverpool Lime Street

Probably a very stupid comment but would it be possible for trains to stop at the unused platform by 7 in such a way that all the doors miss those large pillars? And does anyone know why the taxi rank on the ticket office of the station closed years ago? It's now just a big dark space and taxis...

    East Coast Disabled Alarm

I sat by that little office they have on Virgin Trains once and whenever the alarm was pressed the manager would return and every time the person on the other end was asking where the flush button was! Granted its hidden by the seat but given that it's signposted by those stickers you wouldn't...

    Least scenic lines

I always found Leeds to Hull particularly dull and flat, the approach to Hull is particularly unpleasant and definitely doesn't show the city in its best light. Also my commute between Olympia and Bronesbury is very dull. Can't stand the horrible area around Willesden Junction

    Sorry what does DOO mean?

    New S7 Underground stock

I've been on one that didn't have Olympic maps on. Strange that there's a mix, perhaps there was a shortage?

    New S7 Underground stock

May well have been mentioned already but I was quite surprised that the new H&C train I was on the other day featured one of those line diagrams from July with all the Olympic venues and stations marked out.

Oldest recorded / automated announcement still in regular use

Ah that makes sense (although I'm not sure that thanking passengers for travelling on the line is a particularly important announcement!), thanks.

Oldest recorded / automated announcement still in regular use

Does anyone know when the irregular male announcements on the Jubilee Line were introduced? His contribution seems to be limited to "Please keep your personal belongings with you... at all times", "Thank you for travelling on the Jubilee Line" :-? and an all change announcement when terminating...

    Liverpool James Street station query

Sorry I meant I saw the exit of this passage open above ground on Shore Road and was unsure if it was for the road tunnel or rail. I also was unsure where this passage actually began within the station itself.

    Liverpool James Street station query

I didn't say that, I said I wasn't sure if it was an emergency exit from the road tunnel or from the station.

    Liverpool James Street station query

There is another way up to ground at Hamilton Square without using the lifts. There's a set of stairs opposite the lifts that take ages to climb. They used to just be emergency stairs but last time I was there I noticed there was a sign suggesting it could be used as a regular exit. I accidently...

    Kings Cross V Euston

So many of the platforms at Euston remind me of underground loading areas for shopping centres. Very dismal.

    Platform Nine and Three-Quarters

I love that they've had to put up waiting barrier thingys in King's Cross for all the people desperate enough to want a photo with it! Can you imagine queuing all that time for that?!

    How do request stops work?

Although Upton and perhaps a few other still has a sign up by the ramp to the platform advising you that it's a request stop. Thankfully other people have been on the platform in the past and I haven't had to embarrass myself by waving my arms without realising that I no longer have to!

Railway stations that need to be refurbished

It's not that bad. A bit miserable and could do with decent lighting but it's in an awkward space and really there's worse stations.

Railway stations that need to be refurbished

Manchester Victoria, thankfully it will finally be dealt with in the not too distant future.

    New Airport Links

Schönefeld was the only station in Berlin that I encountered that had no English-speaking staff which is ironic considering it served an airport and all that. I wouldn't have minded but the signage was so poor. It took me about 10 minutes to work out which platform I had to use. Horrid airport...
