    London Midland 321s/319s discussion

Apparently a guard told one trainload that the 319s weren't in service because there were too few staff trained on it. It got reported on Twitter and by the looks of it went up the chain because there was a pretty robust denial all morning. Hope the guard doesn't get in trouble. Have to watch...

    London Midland 321s/319s discussion

More short forms today. So they handed back 7x321s and got 4x319s, of which two serve the Abbey line and the other two are sitting somewhere waiting for staff training?

How good (or bad) is Transport Focus at taking complaints up with train companies?

I see that TF are also tasked with responsibility for local buses too. How appropriate, an industry which is even more unaccountable and poorly run than trains are! I wonder how much taxpayers money is directly or indirectly used up to run. Also, why is there a separate organisation for London?

    London Midland 321s/319s discussion

And now one of the Tring stoppers has been cancelled due to a train fault. I hope LM are taken to task over this, they clearly don't have proper coverage for the departed 321s..

Single 350/2, full and standing by KL of course.

How good (or bad) is Transport Focus at taking complaints up with train companies?

I also had a bad experience with PF. I question whether it is an organisation with any purpose and would be keen to see evidence to the contrary. As a commuting rail user I am really disappointed with the lack of engagement offered to rail users and our complete inability to affect change. It...

    London Midland 321s/319s discussion

It had become a single 350/2 by the time it made it to Tring on the return journey. Let me guess, the 321s are parked up in a siding somewhere doing nothing. Thanks LM

    London Midland 321s/319s discussion

Aboard possibly my last ever 321. Nice to see LM marking the occasion on their platform displays - "Formed of 'Class 321' units for the last time since 1987"

    Caledonian Sleeper discussion

Looks like today's lowland sleeper (1M11) has failed just north of Ledburn Junction .. With the associated disruption to the wcml fasts..

Merseyrail unit moving away with door open

Yeah that really surprised me. I thought all modern trains had to have passenger doors closed and locked otherwise the brakes would come on automatically.

Merseyrail unit moving away with door open

Surely no Electrostar in normal service could move with passenger doors open? I'd have thought the RAIB would be very interested to know about this.

    LM 319 cascade progress

To reach the advertised length, many of not most commuter LM services are mixed class 350s. How will that be possible when part of the 350 fleet is switched to 319s, which I assume won't couple to Desiros?

    LM 319 cascade progress

Swapping newish, air conditioned 350s with more clapped out 319s is not going to go down well with LM commuters ! Hope the rumour isn't true.

First PF - left season ticket

To conclude, my appeal was submitted online to IPFAS on Friday and a copy of my season ticket sent by post same day. To avoid any hassle I paid it at the same time. Today I received an email stating that my appeal was successful and the amount paid would be refunded by LM. I was advised that...

First PF - left season ticket

I think that is how it's supposed to work, but LM told me it is best to pay it then get refunded, because the late payment process runs separately to the appeal process and there is a risk if the latter is not decided before the deadline additional fees will be incurred!

First PF - left season ticket

Spoke to LM; they advised to pay, appeal to IPFAS with a copy of the season ticket, then wait for refund.. Apparently once it's gone to IPFAS it is in their hands.

First PF - left season ticket

Thanks all. I'll give them a call. To be fair to the RPI he did explain that it would be cancelled and I've just noticed he circled the LM address; after many months reading this forum I'm just paranoid about the whole PF process!

First PF - left season ticket

Been a rather duff Monday so far, and to top it off I left my monthly season at home, only realising after arrival at Euston. Went straight to the excess fare window (LM) but was taken to one side by an RPI who issued the fare, I didn't have to pay anything at the time. He said to write in...

    advice, not sympathy

OP, have you considered purchasing a season ticket? You'd get your extra five minutes in bed then. If you do a return journey more than 17 days per month it'd work out cheaper.

    LM 319 cascade progress

With two 321s out of service they have to cancel at least two peak Tring stoppers and short form them in the evening. Seems a bit smoke and mirrors to suggest a 350 or two could cover it!
