    New Starter & Pensions

Yes that's true but they only matched it up to a certain amount. That said and your point taken it is still a very good scheme. It's tax benefits make it a no brainer, really

    New Starter & Pensions

I was told by an old hand when I first started on the rail to get into BRASS, which I did. Best thing I did, won't get anything like the benefits on civvy Street. Soon mounts up and as has been said you won't miss it.

Northern Driver Apprenticeship - Hull Depot (03/09/21)

Train companies are inundated with applications for these jobs and usually get enough that live inside the travel limit to fulfil their requirements. They've had their fingers burnt any number of times by drivers promising to relocate only to find as soon as they're in throwing a transfer or...

    WMT Pension Scheme and BRASS

Echo those sentiments. Was told many years ago by one of our depots more "financially careful " old hands to put in,no matter how much or how little. Looking at my funds now, best advice ever given.

    Northern Conductor Medical

They don't ask about family history. And the results are sent to HR,so you won't be told straightaway. The company doing the medical can't tell you there and then anyway, as urine sample has to be sent away for analysis,

I want to become a train conductor

Everything you mentioned there,no problem until you came to colour blindness. Sorry mate but no chance of a safety critical role with that. It's harsh I know but it is what it is. Look for another role where your colour blindness isn't an issue

Avanti West Coast recruiting QUALIFIED DRIVER TALENT POOL ONLY at London Euston, Liverpool, Manchester, and Wolverhampton depots. (Posted 1/2-09-2020)

Yes, well within the last month or so. There was a contretemps between management and union in that an agreement would be reached over certain items and then no sooner had they got out of the door the company would renege on it. Consequently RDW was not renewed and training not sanctioned. This...

    Medical assessment

As Gem gem has said. I never drink the day before I'm due in work. Not worth the risk. You may think you're clear but you could have an incident, not necessarily your fault and get medi-screened,any if you're over their very low limit it'll be the most expensive pint you've ever drunk.

Avanti West Coast recruiting QUALIFIED DRIVER TALENT POOL ONLY at London Euston, Liverpool, Manchester, and Wolverhampton depots. (Posted 1/2-09-2020)

Training has only just resumed at Avanti. There's a full list of existing drivers to get through with their traction and route refreshers before their thoughts turn to trainees, I would think.
