Disputed Delay Compensation Claim - Length of journey on GWR Services

It was on the basis that the delay was less than 59 minutes. In response to other points, so it appears to come down to what GWR define as a journey. I seem to recall reading a thread recently where they were refusing compensation on a longer journey, so don't really see how they can have it...

Disputed Delay Compensation Claim - Length of journey on GWR Services

I have a disputed claim with GWR. Journey details as follows: The scheduled journey was to depart Lewes 16.24, changing at Gatwick and Redhill arriving at Farnborough North at 18.43. In reality the journey to Redhill was fine but the GWR service from there was delayed and I didn't arrive in...

    Special Offers Discussion

Note the T&Cs say it is only valid on Virgin Services - not clear if that includes connections or not

SWR: Guards/RMT Industrial Action. Next strike dates: 30/31 August, 1/2 September 2019

This is weird! according to the .pdf timetable on the SWR Website the rail replacement bus service between Farnborough and Alton on Saturday is hourly whereas the service running between Alton and Farnborough is half hourly!!

    Fire at Surbiton (26/06)

This is what I found most frustrating. Most people will accept that incidents happen that will lead to delay, but the lack of information management compounded the issue. I arrived at Waterloo at 8.30pm after most of the initial disruption had died down. The main departure board had a number...

    3tph on North Downs Line

Yes 9 minutes - 0958 as opposed to 0949. I guess it then forms the 1004 back, which is quite a luxurious turn around on this route!

    3tph on North Downs Line

Pleased to see that GWR are still tweaking the timetable and have been able to restore some of the linkages they recently lost. In particular since last week the 0910 Guildford to Reading now stops all stations filling that horrendous 90 minute gap north from Farnborough North and replacing...

    3tph on North Downs Line

The skip stopping in the morning peak up the Blackwater Valley is the worst aspect of this new timetable. I'm now adding to the congestion on the Meadows as a direct result of these timetable changes. Whilst I understand pathing issues are the background reason for this, some of the decisions...

    3tph on North Downs Line

I assume not Farnborough North - meaning the last stopping service between Guildford and Reading will be nearly half hour earlier than currently, which is pretty poor.

Required to buy peak ticket, when would normally have been off-peak due to disruption

No one told me but I don't think I had any effective choice! Farnborough North is unstaffed station with a single TVM. So I simply chose the Guildford return ticket option from the machine and the only choices were an anytime any permitted or the (useless) anytime via Woking option, which was...

Required to buy peak ticket, when would normally have been off-peak due to disruption

Many thanks for the various comments and suggestions. I think I can conclude that there is no requirement for GWR to provide me with any refund. For the amount of money involved it is not worth me pursuing any further with them. However, I certainly feel that in terms of good customer...

Required to buy peak ticket, when would normally have been off-peak due to disruption

I travelled from Farnborough North to Guildford this morning and would ordinarily travel on an off-peak train (08:46). However, due to the points problem at Wokingham, this train was cancelled and I had to catch one 15 minutes earlier (08:30), which pushed me into the peak. I therefore...

    3tph on North Downs Line

This appears to be compounded by the 23:14, being brought forward to 22:48, meaning a night out in Guildford will have to end significantly earlier and 22:48 is going to be pretty tight if one is going to the theatre etc.

    GWR postage fee "trial"

Far from it. My local main line station St Erth certainly doesn't and I doubt anywhere on the Branch lines do.

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

Just about! I was there on Saturday, what is happening is that there are staff there who stop the traffic on the main road the bus reverses into the mouth of the bus station under direction and then swings around and stop adjacent to the actual Malakoff. This is for the A17 and T2, 16 remains...

New South Western franchise: Awarded to First/MTR

There is currently a bus service that runs approx. every 2 hours Monday to Friday, so that is of limited use. Only an hourly train service from Farnborough North doesn't add to the appeal and if you wish to get to Gatwick the majority of services from Farnborough North terminate at Redhill...

Guildford to Farnborough Main / North price differences

The any permitted Farnborough to Woking ticket is usually cheaper than the more restrictive via Woking one!! For example: Off-peak day return (any permitted) £5.80 Off-peak day return (via Woking) £8.80 Super Off-peak day return (via Woking) £6.70 Annoyingly the ticket machines at...
