    GWR Strike Timetables

TSSA are striking on GWR on 6th October too, which is the reason they are quoting

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

Thanks for the link. Interesting that just on a cursory glance at services I use there are a number of changes that don't appear to have been advertised in the pre-change publicity. A major recast of 315 Hopley's Redruth to St Agnes timetable and the withdrawal of 75 link to Liskeard Station...

Do many people use the bus just to travel to the next stop?

Quite frequently, though this is because it's 1.7 miles between adjacent stops in Cornwall near where between Rose-an-Grouse & Hayle. Indeed St Erth & Hayle railway stations are closer together than the adjacent bus stops.... but that's probably a different thread!

Incorrect info from ticket office – What if??

Kensington Olympia (not via London) tickets are certain available at the Farnborough TVMs. I purchased such tickets for the self same event last Tuesday. Doesn't excuse the service received at the booking office mind!

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

Yes, there are details on First Kernow Website here https://www.firstbus.co.uk/cornwall/news-and-service-updates/planned-changes/easter-service-levels-2022

New interoperability Ticketing agreement for Cornwall

Having looked at my App today a 5 ticket bundle of a whole network tickets costs £20, so equivalent to £4 per day and town networks all appear to be £10 for 5 so £2 each as opposed to £2.50 is bought individually

    London Travel card

You can get to Slough on a Travelcard but would need to catch TfL bus service 81 from Hounslow, and it takes a while!

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

A single First Cornwall Day Ticket is £13, if bought via their App. If your friend travels on buses in Cornwall even semi-regularly then they can buy a pack of 5 Day Tickets for £30, valid for a year, so that works out at £6 per day.

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

Whilst I understand the reasons for not diverting to St Erth Interchange particularly for the T1, the Lands End Coaster is primarily a tourist route so needs to make it easy to pick up tourists and St Erth Station is somewhere they will arrive. What exacerbates the problem is there is no...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

That's a shame I've always enjoyed sitting outside the Queens Arms, seeing the bus appearing, finishing off my pint and sticking my hand out :-) Can still do this from the right seats in the garden at Gurnards Head though!

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

First Kernow have announced that the A2 & A3 Open Top routes are being withdrawn from Sunday. Totally understandable in the current situation, though I shall miss the couple of bracing rides I had in December before lockdown.

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

First Kernow now appear to be intending to operate the A17 Sunday evening service between Penzance and St Ives through the winter, contrary to the published timetable book which had the service ending last weekend. Not sure if this is off their own back or contracted to the County Council

    Go Cornwall Bus

Bustimes.org seems to have almost randomly split Cornwall operations between Transport for Cornwall and Plymouth Citybus, which is making it rather difficult to find timetables! 16 Penzance to St Ives is listed under Plymouth Citybus, whilst 16A is under Transport for Cornwall! In fact it...

100% definitely serves the station, was on it yesterday, its only T1 that bypasses the Interchange now

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

Pleased to see evening U4s back to FK but frustrated that T1s between Penzance and Redruth still with TfC meaning still can't get home by bus from Camborne or Hayle, with FK day tickets. Why leave just a couple of services with TfC on routes where FK run virtually everything else?

    Arriva's revamped website

Interesting you choose this example. I've recently been tasked by friends to look at the public transport options for a trip to Northumberland in early October and was trying to find the X18 timetable. Started off on the Website then emailing Arriva who replied saying this service wasn't running...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

The problem I had is they won't accept the FK bundles which is the main ticket I use.

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

Absolutely. Means I will probably start catching the bus again to Redruth rather than driving if I can now get back.

Free Cornish Bus Travel June to August

Thought this probably merited its own thread. https://busandtrainuser.com/2020/05/25/cornwalls-free-bus-travel-is-completely-bonkers I'm not even going to try to express a view but completely bonkers doesn't begin to cover it
