    "Seek Assistance" everywhere I go!

09 is a common code . Generally just means the ticket doesn't work. I have a list of the codes at work. Although they are codes for gatelines made by "Cubic" i'm unaware if there are other manufacturers of gatelines!

Split ticket advice from booking office

I think the thing is if its a busy ticket office and the clerk starts explaining split tickets then its going to cause the queue to be longer and people are going to start getting fed up with waiting this might be one reason why management don't want clerks too offer split tickets, the other...

    "Seek Assistance" everywhere I go!

Mobile phones are rumored to damage the magnetic strips on the tickets so don't keep it near a phone. Anything with a magnet could also do it. Not disbelieving you but I find it strange that every ticket you buy does it...Do you have a discounted ticket? Some gatelines are set to reject tickets...

Sharing an Oyster PAYG card with railcard

The only way to "prove" it would be for one person to admit it. Its amazing what people say sometimes to drop themselves or others in it. "Oh yeah my husband gave me his oyster because mine doesn't have a rail card discount on it" follow on question..."So your husband gave you his discounted...

Will you let me off a few pence?

In terms of letting people off a few pence this is always going to depend on the situation. We have a duty of care. There was an example in Nottingham earlier this year where a woman was raped after being refused entry to the bus because she was a few pence short. Ok it isn't the bus drivers...

Can i buy ticket now (discounted with a railcard) and buy the railcard later?

Ok if you go to the ticket office then they are going to ask to see your rail card before selling you the ticket. If someone has booked a ticket online and collect from a ticket machine it is their responsibility to make sure they have the correct rail card too support their ticket so as long as...

    EMT + Connections Internet Advance

When you say "Accoring to my booking" do you mean the confirmation email which "advises" you of which train to take to make your connection? Or do you have a ticket which specifies which train you have to take from Wivenhoe? You will only be obliged to take a certain train if you have a seat...

Sharing an Oyster PAYG card with railcard

The MOVie reader does display the expiry date of any discounts applied too the Oyster card but I would say it is unlikely they would notice depending on how busy they are and how much time they have too spend looking at the tickets as you have to scroll through a bit on the MOVie reader to get...

Can i buy ticket now (discounted with a railcard) and buy the railcard later?

Yes as long as you have a valid rail card to support the discount shown on the ticket when you are making the journey you will have no problem. If however you do forget to renew the rail card before boarding the train you leave yourself open too penalty fare or prosecution.

Getting taken to court for 'fare evasion'. Stressed out!

The thing with "Advance" tickets and the train services is that people don't read the terms and conditions properly and just assume that they can travel when they want. If you book a flight for 14:00 you wouldn't rock up at the airport late and just expect to be allowed too travel on the 16:00...

Why do some people begrudge showing their ticket?

I wouldn't let it get me down..It makes me laugh more than anything, the fact that some people let having their ticket checked bother them so much. Always funny to see other peoples reaction.

Why do some people begrudge showing their ticket?

I really do not understand why some people huff and puff so much when asked too produce a ticket on a train. I'm always polite when asking for tickets but am greeted with grunts. Or people that have the ticket in their wallet (not ticket wallet)so the majority of the ticket is obstructed by the...

Help - Sitting in First class with Standard Class ticket

It always amazes me how many people think that RPI's are just in a bad mood or being jobsworths. Unfortunately you probably did just nip into first class so you could hear on the phone call, probably if the RPI had come along 30 seconds earlier he would have seen you take the call and go into...
