It would get there, slowly. The 73 diesel was for shunting yards, that did not have 3rd rail. Originaly they had a primitive ohl, which 71 used to run on. 74 was different story. Much more powerfull paxman engine.
i Thought that 317 had EE507, maybe wrong about that. Maybe G312.

The 313, 314, 315, 507, 508, and Metrolink T68 had G310. They were troublsome.
But if the axle bearings are failing, they aint going to running for long, no matter how pretty they are inside. involed with a fleet that had axle bearing poblems. busy time.
Nah. increase the line volts, and the axle bearings start failing. Earth brush problem. sure as hell.
