I'm 95% deaf in my right ear and like you it doesn't affect me really day to day. I did decide to declare it on my application just to be 100% transparent and open.
Hope you don't mind me quoting from a month ago, but both Willesden Carriage Shed North and South are owned, operated, staffed and maintained by Network Rail. The Up and Down Carriage Lines are still owned by NWR not Alstom.

Also, does anyone know the shift patterns at Liverpool...
First signal box I applied to before I got my current job. One of only 5 lever frames left in London. I speak to the locking fitters when they visit and they always say it's in good knick over there.
South Box have a "gentlemans agreement" for shifts. They are:
05:30-12:30
12:30-20:30
20:30-05:30

Also just ask your Dad, hes been here for 12+ years ;)
I work in a quiet single manned location, so my answers will be a little different to others.
The first night shift is always a struggle for me and I really hate it.
Equipment failures that have been an issue for 3+ years, but you are low priority so it is never resolved.
Other signallers...
Yeah, any advice to people starting signalling school. Don't read ahead any rule books. Don't download simsig. Honestly, the course is designed to take you from complete newbie to qualified signaller in a certain timeframe. The rules are useless without the knowledge behind them. Spend the time...
Again, just like to thank LOM for his/her massive contribution to this thread, answering many questions us in the grade are unable to. Very annoying to be agreeing with a LOM on a daily basis!
My place seems fine at the moment, only thing the virus has disrupted was our new trainee relief who literally need 1 or 2 more shifts to pass out, but has now been sent home.
The 3 single manned boxes near me seem fine, think there is more of an issue down in the big 5 panel PSB near me.
I'll just say there is nothing specific in previous job history that will help an external candidate. I know research scientists with PhD's become signallers and people who worked in a bookies. I worked for an energy company before joining NWR.
Not me, but my father became a Signaller in his 50's after 25 years of a standard 9-5. Me and my sister were in our mid/late teens then so might be different to your situation. I'm now a signaller, but I live alone so again not your exact situation.
If you can straight to bed after a night...
Had a driver come up to my box the other day. Told me he will be bringing in Greater Anglia class 90's and also the 12 car 745's to Wembley for wheel turning in the Stonebridge Park Heavy Repair Depot when they go into service. Apparently during the day as well as the pendo's already take up...
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
