The ability to change regular timetables at short notice is no longer available to operators, so they have to predict a minimum of 10 weeks into the future! I suspect the TC is aware of that, hence the soft approach being taken.
There have been many parked up out of use at all the main depots for some time, so yes I’d expect a lot of the older stuff will end up simply being disposed of.
I suspect that these service cuts (and many others across the country) are as much driven by the driver shortage, as they are by their financial viability. Slimming down the network will probably mean that they can reliably provide the services they intend to continue.
The 66 was all operated out of Larkfield Depot for a long time. Not sure when Knightswood/Scotstoun first gained workings on it, but it was late 90s at the earliest.
