    Stagecoach East Scotland

There may be an element of politics being played, as I suspect the politicians didn’t believe the warnings, and may only do so once their mailboxes are bulging! If they want a sustainable public transport system, it has to be funded in some manner.

    Stagecoach East Scotland

The real issue is that the funding which has been keeping many bus services afloat over the last 2.5 years is coming to end in Scotland this October. Most of the larger operators will be looking at a (negative) gap of several million pounds between the operating costs of their current networks...

    The Stagecoach Training Bond

Any stipulations regarding a training bond should be clearly set out in your contract of employment. I’d dig that out and read it, rather than listening to canteen gossip!

Whilst it predates the 530, Kilmaclom has also made an appearance as a digital destination!

    SPT Tendered Routes

North Lanarkshire isn’t currently on the list of affected local authorities, but that might change if a resolution isn’t found.

    SPT Tendered Routes

I believe the bin lorry drivers will also hold valid PCV entitlement, however they admit they don’t have the required PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) clearance, which is a requirement for all bus operators drivers running school contracts. Neither SPT or North Lanarkshire Council hold a PSV...

    Stagecoach East Scotland

The morning peak service on the 1 and 2 (Perth’s busiest route) has been virtually non existent for weeks. It must be a nightmare for the many people in Tulloch and Letham that normally use the bus to get to work, school or college!

Free Bus Travel for under 22s in Scotland

We’ve had a free travel scheme in place for some time, with operators being reimbursed by Transport Scotland. The new scheme has simply added another two age categories to the free travel entitlement, with different reimbursement rates applied.

Speculative : future of the British bus industry

The whole deregulation/re-regulation/franchising debate doesn’t really address the two major problems affecting bus services. 1) There is no political desire to fully fund a quality public transport system in the UK. 2) There is no political desire to provide significantly improved bus priority...

The rapid decline of Bournemouth’s Yellow Buses network

Well said! Despite the topic airing across many threads, some members have totally failed to grasp/understand that point.

First Scotland East (Midland Bluebird and West Lothian operations)

I think it’s only the S60 that is subsidised, with the 160 being the placing journeys which are provided without subsidy - although you’d assume the costs would have been incorporated into their tender bid price.

    Stagecoach West Scotland

I passed one heading towards Largs around an hour later, just south of Fairlie, which appeared to be near enough on time, until I passed another a few minutes later turning out of West Kilbride. So, two again very close together, and one at least 30 minutes down. I assume the problem area is...
