I forgot my tickets, I have proved that I had purchased them.

Unfortunately the byelaws require you have the tickets there and then and present them for inspection. What legislation are they using if it says? What is the wording of the allegation against you?

Your longest time spent on a bus or coach?

About 22 hours from Victoria to Prague. Only got off the coach onto the ferry at Dover. Forget how long that was for and at which point.

    Cancelling hotel bookings

Booked a non refundable independent hotel in Belgrade with hotels.com. Was offered a full refund yesterday, apparently doing this for all customers though depending on the end supplier some will be vouchers, most including mine will be cash. Three cheers for hotels. Com. Shall be booking...

24 March 2020: Are there fewer people out and about today?

Mostly yes. Though at Thirsk Station there was an woman with a suitcase going to London and coming back tomorrow evening on what almost certainly wasn't a work trip.

Are tickets booked on Chiltern available for collection straight away?

Seems to have been my experience at least within the 30 min walk to the station. I sometimes book tickets for my commute when the cashback is good that way.

    Double booked seats on LNER

Agreed. I worked at a cinema and double bookings could happen if someone online and the box office booked nearly simultaneously. Guy from it called it a 'race condition', with two parts of the software completing things in an unpredictable order. Perhaps this happened here?

    Fixed penalty notice

This was a very good result. Don't do it again or it may not even be a £90 admin fee but a criminal conviction!

    Advance BoJ during disruption

In any event the guard let me on the 1743 and even mentioned it to the onboard RPI so no long wait... Here's hoping for the Northallerton to Thirsk bit.

    Advance BoJ during disruption

In the end the ticket operated the automatic barrier.

    Advance BoJ during disruption

Am currently on the 1533 EDB- LIV service headed for Newcastle with connections to Thirsk on a one pound tpe advance . Have been cleared to board this service as the 1633 for which I was booked is cancelled however obviously this means a long wait for my connection at NCL. What do you think the...

Leicester to Manchester with split tickets - validity

Hi. Basically yes, you can travel on earlier services as long as your train stops at these stations, subject to the usual permitted routes for your tickets. If you take the same route you will definitely be fine. Also no need to get off, you are explicitly allowed to combine tickets in this...

Travel Incident Report issued by Arriva

For once they have been reasonable. Let's hope this is the start of a trend.

Fare Evasion, An own Goal cannot help.

Which is? Also given how small the Luxembouregois network is I doubt many comparisons could be made.

    The 1/3 discount difference ?

Are your destinations wholly within the Network area? Also are you sure you're not falling foul of the differences in minimum fares?

    MerseyRail Feet Fine

Their comment on cctv and data protection is utter wibble. You have a right to request cctv of yourself under that very legislation.

    Special Offers Discussion

Can confirm that just now. Booked two trips with TPE and the same card kept declining when I just tried to make a small purchase on another website!

    Special Offers Discussion

Just booked my trip to MIA for my upcoming holiday in Serbia. Glad I held off booking train tickets! There were no problems (paid American Express) with the exception that the terms and conditions page was not found. Edit: Just booked a daytrip to Edinburgh as well! :D

    BBC Alba

Have to say as a non-Gaelic speaker and someone with only weak Scottish heritage who has lived in England all his life, I quite liked BBC Alba when I watched television regularly. Subtitles work wonders. There was a programme called 'Eorpa', perhaps still is, which was very informative about...

    TPE (?) Penalty Fares

Good point, I usually buy before I board even for GC, if the guard didn't have time to come round I'd have to purchase at York and that would possibly make me late. I seldom use the machine, the situation where I do like to give TPE commission is by supporting the ticket office, where the staff...

    TPE (?) Penalty Fares

Case in point, today at Thirsk, there was a queue at the ticket office. Used the TVM. Excruciatingly slow, sometimes it times out on itself while fetching the fares list and goes back to the start. This time it didn't, but after pressing 'confirm', the card reader came on, but the screen...
