This discussion could spin off into another thread knocking about right now about larger cities/towns or conurbations that could warrant metro/underground/light rail/trams systems that don't currently already have them.

I don't think anything much will change with existing 24hr routes and stations and I think that what will be way more likely is that more suburban services will become 24 hr 6 day services as that's what people want
So Ashford Borough Council are pushing for this to happen now?
The document dated 2006 was just a consultation though some consultations can be even longer before a project ever starts as you probably know such as initial consultations relating to Crossrail

On some of Stagecoach East Kent double decker buses there is only one stop button next to the stairwell and they still have a sign saying "press once and remain seated until the bus stops" my arms are long but not long enough to reach from the back of the bus lol

Just a shame its a tram-like bus metro scheme rather than full tram or trolleybus and still reliant on fossil fuels
I remember waiting for a Dover train once at Tonbridge and there was some kind of delay and three trains due after the Dover train arrived in front of it to Hastings, Victoria and Tunbridge Wells before as the train arrived the "manual" announcement was along the lines of the train now...

How about the urban area of Lincoln the urban area comprises the city and places like Hykeham, Scampton, Bracebridge Heath, Canwick, Washingborough, Waddington, Birchwood along with many other smaller villages around the edges yet they basically have Lincoln Central, Hykeham and Saxilby serving...
