Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Could be, could also be Alstom who understandably are only supplying short term maintenance contracts due to Hitachi being primarily responsible for another fleet they didn’t build. It’s not the first time that we’ve seen this from Hitachi upon taking on the maintenance for legacy fleets -...

    Class 175s to GWR

I may be wrong, but could that be the Angel 3 (202/207/216). The native Porterbrook units had their cab desks replaced during the First Great Western refurbishment.

Hampshire & Solent Mayor. Transport priorities?

Having a half hourly stopper from Southampton to Portsmouth would be a boost that’s for sure. SWR were talking about it a few years ago and subsequently dropped it, annoyingly because of the somewhat crazy plan to divert the second Weymouth to Waterloo service to Portsmouth & Southsea instead.

Rail Article regarding the current situation (largely what we already know).

    GBR Anglia

On a fleet related note then, with the confirmed sharing of the Aventra fleet and the fact is is known Greater Anglia ended up with more than it needed, could this result in a gradual reduction of the 26 year old 357 fleet and replacement with 720s?

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Almost as sobering as our SWR 701 fleet, which has managed to outlive the franchise they were ordered by and built for and a subclass is still not in service! I do wonder how Hitachi must be viewing the UK now. From the cracking of the entire 80X fleet to having to include the 385s as well, to...

    Class 810

In short, nobody seems to know other than Hitachi themselves. It has been discussed in this thread: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/class-810-for-east-midlands-railway-construction-introduction-updates.195052/page-238#post-7862048

    XC Voyager Refurbishment

220019 is the latest unit to venture into Litchurch Lane for refurbishment. On a side note, we are somewhat getting close to the half way point for the 220 fleet now.

WCR non heritage liveries on diesels, why?

In theory anyway, but since West Coast bought out the rolling stock from Riviera, matching rakes seem to have largely become a thing of other past now unfortunately!

Great British Railways - First Train in New Livery

And also subject to a song by the Manic Street Preachers no less. Anyway Heljan has been in Liverpool Street this morning. Now, who’s brave enough to play spot the difference with the 701 in GBR.

    Class 175s to GWR

Oh goody, nice to see the footnote at the bottom and see the Reading > Bedwyn IETs re-instated at long last! :D

    WCR - Jacobite 2026

Let’s not turn this into yet another For / Against CDL debating thread please. There’s been enough of them and I think after all this time, most of us just want to see the Jacobite running in some form again without hearing the CDL debate.

WCR non heritage liveries on diesels, why?

Don’t forget that the initial reason for West Coast’s Diesel loco fleet to be the colour it is dates back to when West Coast were the traction provider for the Royal Scotsman. Locos painted to match the rolling stock. Unfortunately it’s something that as rather stuck, although 47270 thankfully...

    Class 175s to GWR

First North Western didn’t “get rid of them because they must have known something” but because as The Exile points out they were transferred over to what because the All Wales Franchise. Essentially FNW was broken up into 3 ways - North Wales Coast to All Wales (Arriva Trains Wales)...

Class 350/2s to replace 323s on Northern

Indeed, and if they are to be maintained potentially at Ardwick, the staff there already have experience of Siemens rolling stock with the kit fitted.

Railway 200 : 'Inspiration' touring train

And has since moved down to Arriva Traincare at Eastleigh TRSMD. It is in a part Caledonian Sleeper teal livery with grey ends from its time at Inverness being used to heat the Mk5s over winter.

Class 350/2s to replace 323s on Northern

I wanted them to get the battery proposals sorted out and get ScotRail to grab them for the Fife Circle  Failing that, a common sense approach of working with WMT & Angel, refurbish and keep the 350/2s on the WCML, send the 350/1s to SWR and make use of them around here… but sadly neither...

    EMR Regional and Connect refurbishments

The former McSouthern 170s (and Southerns native 171s) do have a small openable window hoppers for emergency ventilation so it can be fitted. They are guard locked / unlocked as well and have 2 on each side. 1783708865 Partially knackered is a good description - the Southern refresh only saw...
