Mrs Par and myself were recently delayed travelling together on ticket booked directly with Northern and I elected to receive complimentary travel passes as the method of fulfilling my delay repay claim.
Northern approved the claim, no problem and I have today received the passes, which we...
Pre Metrolinkification of the Oldham Loop, two changes were always necessary for London. An argument could be made for those trains that ran through to Southport, that a single change in Wigan was possible, but that considers Wallgate and NW as a single change, which despite their close...
Yes, I’ve read that and it isn’t 100% clear to me, perhaps others can comment?
It could be interpreted as refunds on being available for the first 3 days of industrial action that have now passed.

Update
Based on dvboy’s advice I put in a refund request using the form (couldn’t do...
But surely in that scenario “the price of the actual ticket“ would be even higher (£27.60 or thereabouts) so even less of a reason to request more money when they are currently retailing at £24.30.
I think what I‘m going to do is leave it a few days to see how the RMT / Avanti talks progress...
Not that I recall, but I can’t rule it out entirely. If I did (and I honestly can’t remember doing so), it surely wouldn’t explain why Avanti are now asking for more, when I’ve already handed over in excess of the cost that the tickets are currently retailing at.
Irrespective of where the £24.80 (£49.60) came from, surely I shouldn’t be expected to pay an additional £5.60 when the the new tickets are retailing at £48.60.
Any clue as to how why this is being requested and how I might avoid the £5.60?
No, no additional discounts. Below is the “ticket info” page from the e-ticket in my Apple wallet.
What I do know is that Avanti are asking for an additional £5.60 on top of the £49.60 I’ve already paid for tickets currently retailing at £48.60, which appears to be a bit of an anomaly.
Yes, see below. These are 2 x Advance singles, London to Manchester, booked with a Two Together Railcard. These were booked in December. 2 x £24.80 = £49.60. The train I’m looking at would allow a new booking for 2 x Advance singles (with the aforementioned Railcard) for £48.60 as per my...
I’m looking to potentially change two Advances bought direct with Avanti. I understand that there is a £10 per ticket admin fee, but understood that if the new ticket was the same price (or lower) than the original, then that was it, £10 per ticket.
On attempting to make the change they are...
It’d be useful if they allowed anyone with Advances to get a refund now and make alternative arrangements.
I’ve got Euston - Manchester Advances booked for Sunday February 23rd, so quite a while away yet, but these disputes don’t seem to get resolved quickly, so I have little faith that it will...
Does this policy extend to missed connections using two Advances with different operators say Northern and LNER where sufficient interchange time was allowed but late running of the first train means the advance booking for the second was missed, is there an entitlement to take a later train...
It’s not silly at all. It’s what I do.
I have a tab open on my phone showing the Railcard and another with the digital e-tickets. It‘s just the digital equivalent of checking you have an orange CCST ticket in one section of your folding blue wallet and the Railcard in another, perfectly...
Definitely in the digital category.
The last two Railcards I've bought (Two Together) have been discounted by purchasing online and have been instantly fulfilled digitally (most recently using a code from O2 which brought the cost down to a tenner). No worries about loss of a phone or battery...
That’s not my experience at all.
Travelled on numerous Footex trains and always bought tickets at either Manchester Piccadilly or Victoria.
Still got most of the tickets too, which I can post up if anyone is remotely interested?
Yesterday #1 daughter was travelling from Euston to Manchester on an Off Peak Return (Any Permitted).
In view of the weather and potential disruption, I did advise her about the alternative routes, via Reading, Birmingham, Sheffield etc..
I believe that via Warrington is also valid, so there...
The gripe I have is that it’s either tap in / out or paper ticket which means more expensive journeys.
Mrs Par has a job that involves travelling exclusively within Zone 4, so buys a weekly Travelcard via the app.
When travelling to the city for the day, then this previously only required...
