Course start date is 28th of May.
Possibly could get pushed back a week at the most.
I have heard they will start contacting people from today if they have the job.
The difference in software causes the brakes not to release on one of the units and other issues if 2 trains are coupled with the different software updates.
We are at the same TOC, after several conversations some of the training department now thinks it would be beneficial to visit the signal box during the classroom based training. I had mentioned they should actually go and learn the route first and then I think the visit would be more useful for...
At my TOC we now can receive “contact control” on the GSMR, I have received it on a couple of occasions when running late due to disruption to make changes to the stopping pattern.
Had a few berth triggered broadcasts in the past but none for several years.
Definitely would have saved time on...
At c2c any incidents with a trainee go on your own license, you get a green cab pass to assess and instruct so it’s a risk instructing and you have to be on the ball all the time.
The system c2c use is T.A.S (Timetable advisory system) they are not for telling the driver when to coast, or for the speeds.
They only show the stopping pattern and the departure times of the train and give an alert of the approaching station and a reminder of the train length.
At my toc if you were progressing from Shunter to mainline you don’t have to retake them, on my course there were shunters who had been on the depot for nearly 8 years before getting a chance to go driving.
We have train drivers and shunters who don’t drive a car all the company ask is how you will get to and from the depot when there are no trains running. There is a night bus that runs near by so they use that to get in for the early starts.
