Just in case people didn't realise (which i did'nt) you can drive a diesel locomotive at Crewe Hertige Centre.
Fiver to drive a 03, and a tenner to drive whatever diesel they have got available that day, i think thats cool and im off to there next weekend to hopefully thrash a 37
What's the quickest and cheapest way to get York from Crewe on Monday 30th April?.Will be leaving in peak hours, or if it cost that much more go earlier
Just noticed that you can go back in time on Google Earth, whilst looking for a access gate for tonight at Paddington i noticed the vast sheds just outside the station, what where they?.
You can go back and see what buildings and tracks were in place any time between 1945 and 2010
Last night 08483 was on platform 1 behind the 23.45 sleeper to Penzance, what was it doing there, and does it travel from OOC all the way to Paddington at 5mph?
There will various upgrades to the Midland Mainline for longer and more frequent freight trains from Peak Forest.
These include a new 2.5km loop at Sundon, Double tracking at Chinley, and Signalling upgrades at Buxton
Found this on internet today, surely it can't be true
Midland Mainline, which operates services to Leicester and Nottingham from St. Pancras, are proud of their new four-car Meridien units. However, the guards go on strike if the train is longer than four cars why?
Don't know if this as been done before apologies if it has. What are the fastest accelerating trains, would like it kept to Diesel, Electric Loco's, Emu's and Dmu's, and how to they compare with steam and some older diesel loco's?.
My guesses are.... Virgin Pendolino...
Do's anybody know why there is old railway track in the car park on Platform 1 side?.
And there is a sign for Motorail check in, did they years ago load cars from sidings there?
This weekend the level crossing at Deganwy will be ripped out, and over next week a new one will be commissioned.
The old level crossing and its mechincal workings will be scrapped, does anybody know any Preserved railways that need any parts or the whole thing?
The only thing there can't...
I had a look inside the now closed shed at Bletchley the other day and seen two DRS mark 2 or 3 carriages inside, they must of been in there a while as i haven't seen any loco movement there for a while, what are they doing there?
Would like a answer to this question please.
Why can't a level crossing be used as a method of warning to track workers if they are working in the vicinity of the working level crossing?
Last week a LM 350 at Nuneaton ran over a sheet of metal which was either placed across the tracks or had fallen from the road above, this section of the WCML has axle counters, what i want to know is why the sheet of metal wasn't picked up by the signaller.
Could having axle counters instead...
I have been recently told that the wiring form Farringdon to City Thameslink will never be made live.
It has the lowest wire height in the whole of the UK, and this the reason why it is causing the circuit breakers to trip.
The electrical clearance from what i measured is only 100mm at...
I see that Network Rail have started to light up major junctions, Edge Hill has recently been done, Basford Hall is next.
What does this achieve apart from the obvious
Whilst working at Old Oak Common last night, various FGW HST's' came in and out of the depot, most had Destination stickers on the windows, i thought these were a thing of the past, which if any other TOC still has these stickers?.
Most stickers by the way said Taunton.
How will Crossrail work?
Will it share tracks with the current services on the GWML from the new tunnel being built at Royal Oak?
The new tunnel is on line 6 side will the new crossrail services stay on that side of the railway or use crossovers to get where they are going?
