definately going to this weekends steam event at wensleydale railway. As will be 1st visit, can anyone advise best place (station) for photographs, any idea which way locos will be facing, and where they will pass. Any info greatly appreciated.

Check wind direction for steam! I was 3 miles south of Carnforth thismorning & the wind was blowing off the sea (westerly) & consequently caused the exhaust from the 1st loco to obliterate the 2nd loco & 1st 2 carriges! (still looked blloody good though)!

linesmen in lineside huts every couple of miles, so if there was a lineside fire it could be brought under control quite quickly. Also up o a few years ago, the lineside itself was kept in much better condition and was'nt allowed to encroach anywhere near the actual track. Financial cutbacks...
