I posted about this on another topic recently too!
2C67 1758 - 1803 Aylesbury Vale Parkway-Aylesbury forms 2C68 1818 Aylesbury-Marylebone
2C76 1953 - 1958 Aylesbury Vale Parkway-Aylesbury forms 2C77 2018 Aylesbury-Marylebone
Presumably to avoid scheduling a service with a 15-20 min dwell at...
The 2133 M-F Stratford-upon-Avon to Marylebone I find interesting- the only direct service to London these days, usually a 2 car 165 and lots of stops - the last arrival into Marylebone at just before midnight. Can't imagine it's very popular with tourist visitors to that part of the world...
Aylesbury (AYS)-Aylesbury Vale Parkway (AVP) has 1 - 0646 and AVP-AYS has two in the evening 1758 & 1953 . The two in the evening are a little interesting as the units typically go on to form a AYS-London Marylebone service but presumably they do not want to schedule a ~20 minute layover on a...
Yes, I mean once contactless supports railcards at all !

In theory this could be the same as F&F railcards, add it to any card that is travelling and if they travel at the same time then apply the fare.
The challenge is going to be validation, if railcards were all digital and all...
Network railcard really should be in scope - contactless covers a wider area than Oyster ever did and the minimum fare should not be an issue with back end calculation
The F&F / two-together is a bit more of an issue but technology wise would be feasible to add the payment cards and have the...

I was confused yesterday when I saw this as I thought max 6 too. Must have been a data error as in reality it was shortformed as a 2 car (bet that was cosy!)
The 1830 was showing as 5 cars vs 3 so I thought that was...
Is there any particular reason why 2H16 is a Mk5 vs 1H12 which used to be Mk3 and is now a 2x2 car units?
1H10 PRR-MYB was cancelled as the inbound 5P05 ECS terminated at West Ruislip with brake issues (per RTT). This would be a Mk5 usually. Then 1H22 terminated as well - so doesn't look like a...
I can't remember which day but I saw on Journeycheck the 18.37 having First Class declassified , seems like this could be a "problem" train until the Dec rewrite (though I imagine it is OK after the Haddenham and Thame Parkway call)
Got it! Thanks all for clearing up my confusion :D I did do a final Mk3 ride a couple of weeks ago but maybe I'll do a "final final" go on 1H10 this week then as that does connect OK from an Aylesbury shuttle
Presumably they are from this week?

Sorry - I thought this weekend was the last Mk3 operated service completely! Apologies. Though the 1H12 today is 2x165 vs Mk3
The services I'm referring to are
1H10

1H12

1P51

These services I can't imagine would have much...
I doubt anyone will be willing to pay £20 to upgrade from High Wycombe to Marylebone though ! Be a shame if there is standing in Standard and First Class is carrying fresh air (as there will be 4 coaches of standard vs 6 currently)
Wonder if they'll declassify First Class on the commuter runs. Perhaps at the discretion of the guard depending on loading ? I haven't used one of these services so not sure how busy they usually get
I am not a regular traveller on the mainline across the day but I don't foresee a big challenge on the longer distance services once the timetabling is tweaked in December to move some of the nearer to London stops onto other lengthened / additional services (e.g. Bicester North / Haddenham &...
You needed a ticket to Underground Zones 123 . £43.60 return.
But it's the same price to use contactless (not Oyster as that isn't valid at HW) so may as well use that in future if possible , especially if you return at an off peak time by any chance!
Chiltern Railways did something interesting, showed all trains after around 10pm as cancelled and told passengers to travel earlier. However these did then run as booked (aside from the disruption caused by the points failure at Tylesey)
I am not sure if it was an intended action or just a...
Decided to risk a Bicester North to London service this evening. 6 cars - 2x165 and a 4x168. The 168 was pretty busy but front car of the 165 (leading) is quiet . Saw some reports of full and standing + a disturbance earlier . Some 8 cars out and about so think Chiltern did pretty well...
The reason that Romic HSTs sprung to my mind is they're going to be operating charters on the Chiltern route next year inc selling the positioning moves between Birmingham and Marylebone ( https://www.adventure001.com/Home )
So many of these issues must have been or in the process of being...
Indeed, I work for a large corp and spend plenty of time dealing with this!
But big picture there are plenty of folk who travelled over the last few days who are rare train users and will actively seek to avoid Chiltern or trains completely following their experience. So some upfront spend on...
