The biggest losers will be families, Off-Peak departures will now start an hour or more later, meaning arrival in London with kids will be an hour later, then can no longer return between 4pm and 7pm without a massive increase in fares.
Children, Pensioners and Railcard holders will also feel...
Noted 377 131 and 132 are paired up running together at London Bridge this morning. Checked RTT to make sure.
Is it a coincidence or is that getting them ready to send to SouthEastern?
There's a lot of electrical, power and signalling work including renewals being undertaken whilst line is closed - especially between Coulsdon and Redhill. Also, conductor Rail replacement between Redhill and Reigate/Nutfield. Plus, track renewals on all 4 lines. Seems like they are going to be...
I think this is the key problem at Gatwick - all the lovely new overbridge where there is virtually no passenger information meaning passengers must rely on their phone.
I change regularly at Gatwick and often find myself on platform 6 and see a train arrive for my destination on platform 7...
I think the service from Peterborough to Horsham is only too long as the crew and train bases are mostly at the extremes of the route, it would make sense if the crew and train depots were closer to London - like maybe Welwyn and Redhill. It would give space for trains to be turned early rather...
Yes, thread drift but I'd dispute not putting people off. Safety on the train is regularly raised by Rail Users
Feel for you - the seats are far too small for gentlemen of a certain age like me!
Isn't there more GX painted trains than needed for the service, so unless they repaint some, they will always be turning up on other services, such as Coastway
Technically yes but I've only personally seen a 9R do so - there is very little space in London Bridge, and you have to choose between the 5 (+1 peak) routes through the station from the South for the one spare platform in the terminus part. They can technically turn on P4/5 but again never seen...
The 9J's can still run on East Coast to Kings Cross, whereas South of River they have no turn back point as London Bridge is rarely used for 9J's
No not just the 9S services but also the 1W services - appreciate they get cut along with the 1R's but at least there are lots of other services...
Coming from the 9R route south - wish it did, but to be fair changing at Farringdon for the next stopper isn't that bad
The 9J's don't have enough turnround at Horsham to properly stop in both directions at the extra stations that completely lose service (i.e. Earlswood and Salford's) so often...
Is it really fair on heavily disrupted passengers to allow a few days of ruined commutes before GWR gets it right. I hope they get it right first time without fai.
Southern staff will probably do nothing but that doesn't mean GWR decide to have controllers at the station. As far as I am aware...
Reigate Station is manned (by Southern) so there will not be any Bus Controllers at Reigate.
They are stopping at Dorking Main station not Deepdene. This was changed a few closures back as there is more room for the buses at Main.
The replacement bus situation for the 2-week closure 15th to 27th Sept is so appalling for local travellers who might as well be told not to travel.
GWR are only running replacement buses hourly, unlike the normal train service which is half-hourly. The journey time from Redhill to Guildford...
