Would be nice Swanage Railway partially de-heritaged. Already has charter trains travelling through from London and their aim is to operate a constant service as per the original form. It would certainly help de-isolate the town somewhat.
Crossrail 2 is pretty much a done deal now that HS2 is going ahead, 3 isn't even safeguarded and might not even be needed depending on which option for CR2 is preferred. There was a Camden-Brixton cross river tram being planned but Boris indeed killed it, Ken wants to bring it back, but I don't...
Just a quick question while it's being discussed, how do you view the freight services passing any give station, e.g. Finsbury Park? I can't seem to fine the option of the site anywhere.
No it was me misreading yours actually, apologies, you're quite right!
I agree, although I wonder how long it be before Hatfield's anomalous platform configuration will lead to complications. Potters Bar would be even easier to extend.
Except I don't think the plan is to have 12 car trains stopping at the 8 car stations at all, SDO will only be put into use on 6/4 car platforms for 8 car trains as far as I am aware. Stopping service to Welwyn from South London for example will only be 8 car, which means stations like Potters...
Where approximately on the map is it? Any luck with street view? Its images are more up to date.
That area is riddled with disused track beds and defunct alignments.
Ah I follow, sorry for my confusion. That's true. I guess it made sense given I imagine not many customer were travelling from say, New Barnet to Shoreditch, so it was always the City as the post popular destination which the NCL accommodated before, but still, all those stairs at Finsbury Park...
No it couldn't, not with the current OHLE. It was previously double tracked to allow services from Welwyn and Potters Bar to go to Broad Street but this was removed once Broad Street closed (I'm not really sure what the intention in doing so and installing OHLE was). I wonder if it would be...
Expand and double track the Canonbury curve and run LO to Finsbury Park. Make capacity by rebuilding the old platform to the West of 5 and 6 and let LO use the soon to be reinstated platform 1, and provide service to Drayton Park. Might not even require double tracking if trains can pass at...
What would the implications be for stations just outside greater London for stopping commuter services? For example, FCC trains from Moorgate to Welwyn Garden City (and indeed future Thameslink Maidstone East to Welwyn Garden City services). The majority of the stations lie within London with...
Running LO to Watford and running LO to Welwyn and Hertford is a little different though, is it not? Then again, if they're all Oyster zoned in the near future there's little to distinguish them on a transport basis. Will make for an interesting tube map at least.
Dependent on the passing of the HS2 bill I'd expect the final safeguarding will reflect the fact it'll be a NR line and will cover the extension considered not currently part of the central London safeguarding, as well as the realignment to include an extra Euston station.
I'd imagine it's because the stopping Thameslink services will be operating over parts currently served by FCC and Southern such as Welwyn Garden City to Tattenham Corner and Cambridge to Horsham.
Saying that though such trains will also be calling at SE stations...
