DfT Consultation on TL/GN/SN Combined Franchise

I think that ones been thoroughly mooted as too expensive regardless of the option. The RUS glazes over it with the idea that Hertford Loop capacity will make that problem go away...only if you're planning on reconnecting Welwyn to Hertford, which no one is. Or as they say "Further north...

Converting a terminus station into a through one

Waterloo, when it was once more like a conglomeration of three termini, was formally an example of this, albeit a weird one, when the portal to the escalators was originally for a single track connection running over the concourse onto the line through Waterloo East. I have no idea how often it...

    New Mexico Mystery Railroad Info

If you look to the south there is actually some filming taking place on the dislocated section of track! Lots of people standing around there.

Guardian: "Penalised train passengers fight ticketing rules"

I don't know how Amtrak make it work if it's so impossible in the UK. Much, much cheaper fares, and going on their website to read there terms of transportation makes the UK system look like the utter farce it is.

I've neve rheard of this link before, can't see it here.

    Southern brand to disappear?

It could happen in 2014 it seems for South Eastern and Greater Anglia apparently. If that's true then it could also hold for Thameslink as well. Boris really does seem determined to gain control of all the rail services regardless of how far into the home counties they go...this would seem to be...

    Possible route reopenings

I'd really like to see the Welwyn Garden City to Hertford route reopen as far as Hertford North. The Stevenage to Hertford stretch is no where near capacity and it'd be a good way of circumventing the bottleneck at the two track stretch through the tunnels and viaduct between Welwyn and...

    M25 Parkway Station?

Don't get me started on Uno. Probably burst a few blood vessels with rage...

    M25 Parkway Station?

I was raeding ECML RUS final recommendations and read one item in the table of recommendations, which was the construction of a new station at the intersection of the ECML and the M25. I thought GNER had killed of this idea over a decade ago, but apparently it's back on the table again...

    BML2 is back

Is it just me or is that website awful? Can someone go over the route here please?, I cannot make it out at all.

Stations far from their town/city centre

Hatfield on the Great Northern route...serves the older part of town but the extensive business park, university campuses and shopping center are no where near it. There are bus services between them but they are in no way coordinated with train times...there was a branch line that bisected the...

    Stevenage Metro

Not necessarily, if the Crossrail 2 Regional Option is changed to allow a connection above ground at Ally Pally and used any spare capacity on the Hertford Loop, which is the only place it'd come anywhere near to Stevenage-Moorgate.

London mayor live blog – Boris expletive-filled rant at Ken plus transport Q&A

Surely you appreciated the pink and purple wonder wagons that are uno? Conversely, I'd argue that the vote may indeed effect us in the home counties, if the proposal to absorb commuter lines into TfL control goes ahead, we could be boarding LO branded trains instead of FCC by 2016 and...

Boris: I can cut rail fares and crowding on suburban lines

This is my problem as well, it's not very democratic! I'm all up for London Overground running to my station at Potters Bar, but I'd like to think I have as much say over that as the people living 5 miles south of me in London. And there's little to say in defense to TOCs arguing that the Mayor...

    User Friendly London Underground.

Back on the topic of the tube map, could always rebrand LO to have coloured lines rather than an orange sprawl. Especially when Boris/Ken folds the rest of the London rail network into it.

    User Friendly London Underground.

Yeah the NYC map is a nightmare when you throw in express trains and route numbers and everything. I've ended up on the wrong train far too many times there. And my friends in New York definitely find the tube more user friendly, anyway. Gah I hate the subway.

    The Crossrail 3 concept

A Stansted connection would exist if Crossrail 2 is taken to Hertford East and EWR gets its most comprehensive and most-favoured central section plans approved. Which of course will involve the nasty business of demolishing a bit of central Hertford, but I doubt a few NIMBYs and...

    Possible route reopenings

I completely agree too. It's a nightmare getting from places like Potters Bar, where I live, to Luton or Hertford by public transport anyway. A 35 minute train journey instead takes 90 minutes of trains and buses and costs a lot more than any train ticket would. There's no rail line that runs...

Gospel Oak to Harringay Junction electrification as part of Thameslink

It had thought such trains would continue using the current depots and the new one at Hornsey only served to house the additional trains needed for the new ECML services.

    'The Tube' (TV program)

Did anyone find it weird how despite they spent the entire episode talking about a lack of capacity and showing the rebuild of TCR station yet there was absolutely no mention of Crossrail whatsoever? It was as if TfL had commanded them to not mention it or something!
