Assuming you are not using an advance (only other available ticket types are SOS/SVR):
If you are travelling on an Advance ticket, reservations and a journey itinerary will support you in any argument with ticket examiners.
Can't help with the formation, but the train was 1Q24 06:50 Derby-Derby via Lichfield, Stoke, Stockport (r), Stoke, Stafford, Wolves, New St, Coventry, Northampton (r), Coventry, New St, Wolves, Stafford, Stoke (r), and Lichfield
Hope that helps :)
About a mile or so of the trackbed beyond Stratford station has been built on - most of the route as far as Long Marston is now a cycle track/footpath.
I seem to recall a study was done a few years back identifying a route through Stratford, but I can't find anything now.
I think it more...
May be different online in that case. If you buy from a railway station it is one calendar month - just tried it by issuing Reading-Heathrow Bus SVR (route direct (ie Railair coach) - expiry of return is as expected - 15/08/11.
For the record the restriction code is 8D - Valid by any railair...
Not in front of a TIS at the moment so no fares, but if you decide to go via Reading/Basingstoke try splitting at Banbury. Probably stand to save more by looking at Advance tickets or getting LM Super Off Peak via London though (subject to time restrictions of course)
Reasonable question. It used to be a specific distance where Day tickets became Open tickets (30 miles?). Doesn't seem to be so rigidly applied these days, however.
I don't photograph trains anymore - everything I used to like has gone to the great razorblade factory in the sky
I now focus my attention on aircraft as evidenced by my avatar...
My Lowepro backpack contains:
Nikon D90 with battery grip
Nikkor 70-300mm AF-S VR f4.5-5.6G
Nikkor...
There was no complaint - merely a question, which was answered.
As for my username - the forum wouldn't let me have 'Guest' - a play on the fact that I normally 'lurk' on forums - so i just changed a letter
I usually fly Ryanair - I've heard their cabin crew refer to us as 'Cattle' before now. Althoguh I was more shocked at the time when I realised she spoke English
I've had 8 years in the booking office and every day people tell me I'm wrong/the other guy sold me one yesterday/Network Rail (sic) said.../New St said.../The man on the train said.../My mate said...
Trust me you get used to it

I agree...
Personally I don't see why anyone who is not employed by a TOC/ATOC/Passenger Focus/DfT/PTE/Some other relevant body as a mystery shopper or similar should feel the need to 'test' staff. While I can't disagree that the G4S staff at Man Picc are, at best, useless, rail staff have enough to do...
Daniel's post used the work 'suppose', not 'this is fact', hence the question. See Daniel's response at 13:11, and my response at 13:25. :)
Forgive me for not knowing fellow member's crendentials...
Ah fair enough - just looked like guesswork on first reading.
I've trawled though the ATOC retail manuals and I can't find any mention either - strange :-?
But on what basis is this supposition made? So far as I can tell the ticket is for tomorrow, and therefore no attempt has been made by anyone here to use said ticket on TfL networks...
I highly doubt that the OP is the first person to have been issued with such a ticket, although I don't...
Just checked the CTR ref number on the ticket - the saved details explicitly state Super Off Peak Day TC - so would seem to be some kind of workaround as mentioned. I would check with Southern to get the gen.
