Class 172?s . . . Luxury! You should try some of EMTs 156s and 153s when it's raining. I'm thinking of saving water bills at home by having a shower at work in the cabs! Surprised at the 172s though I know a couple of guards who work on them who say they are cheap and nasty.
They did absolutely nothing when they were in government so I don't take anything they say seriously. It's all talk. It is easy to say anything when you are im opposition, and not so easy to implement when in government. Not that I'm anti labour, I just think its the same of all sides in politics.
I generally go through all of my trains including the last ones. The above poster has it spot on in the way to approach rowdy trains. You get used to ways of avoiding confrontation. Sometimes it is not easy. We have a couple of notorious trains, a certain train to Grimsby on a Saturday night is...
I see lots of very odd passengers. However the three that stick out the most all have the same thing in common, they are all carrying a large trolley, or one of those trolleys that people use to move large items about.
Firstly a gentleman always used to board trains between Stratford-Upon-Avon...
I wish I could block people calling me to do surveys, offer me compensation for injurys and re-claim PPI . . . It's getting silly. God knows how they get the number!
Yes she is very quiet at Lincoln. The noise of a passing freight drowns her out completely. I always enjoy it when she looses it and starts waffling on about 'long and short stay parking' being available. The settings allow it to say all sorts of stuff. On approach of a dogbox into platform 3 it...
I think the woman at Nottingham when announcing 'Lincoln Central' always sounds like she has a bad cold. The best one is the 'on the cheap' EMT automated ones at Sleaford, Newark Castle etc which are done on a 'text to speech' computer programme. All the annunciation is wrong ... Something like...
You are right. Our depot only work one of these for route knowledge now, but we get the company wide blackberry messages, quite often anything about disruptive passengers or fare dodgers being aggressive will involve that line.
I don't want to pack it all in but it does get very close on some Saturdays. This day seems to bring out the worst people. Yesterday my train was at one point full of stupid drunk blokes chanting and shouting at one another and spilling lager all over the floor. Felt sorry for the 'ordinary'...
Saw this on BBC this morning so had a look online about the Greek Railway. Was most surprised to see that they have shut down some of their regional railways completely and suspended the international rail as part of the government cuts.
Thanks Failed Unit, really good info there, really interesting to see how the service has changed around here. It would be nice to see connections to Birmingham back. I think it would also be worth splitting ivanhoe services off Lincoln to Nottingham, indeed as you mentioned It's highly unusual...
A very high number of passesngers on Lincoln - Nottingham services have connections onwards to Derby, Birmingham New Street and the South West. Getting rid of the Birmingham services by splitting franchises was a bad idea. I remember a direct train in the morning even went from Birmingham New...
I used to quite like their cards. I could always find a nice card depicting puppies, fluffy kittens or cupcakes for those occasions when I needed to buy one.
