Lovely cars - I had a Yreg Corsa SRI for 5 years and it was brilliant . . dunno what made me get rid of it really. See lots about here in Lincoln still. Like the new VXR one but too pricey for me.
The official line is you should by a new ticket, but as guards we are given the power of discretion. The guard probably summed up for the way you spoke to him and behaved etc that you were genuine and honest.
We do have to weigh up some awkward situations sometimes but after several years of...
313103 is exactly right. I would love to be "nice" more often to my passengers but we simply cannot go even a few seconds late for waiting for late runners. PPM, and up here "Right Time Railway" means we have to be moving at the departure time or we have "delay attribution" on the other end of...
What amazes me is the amount of strange driving one sees. I have seen people in sports cars going immensely slow and pootling along at about 40, and the other day I was overtaken by a morris minor which must have been doing over 90!.
Time for me to add my bit. . .
The most worrying aspect of this report is the section on implementation of DOO. This is going to create the most problems as far as I can see, and yes I am a guard.
Where I work in Lincolnshire I just cannot see how DOO can be implemented within the timescales...
Any cable thief that is caught should not go to prison!!!!!
No, they should instead be placed in medieval style stocks on the nearest large station and have rotten fruit thrown at them by the passengers that they have caused misery to in the first place.
These people are a disgrace. I been...
Best is probably Grand Central currently. Worst I would say is Northern as it always looks dated to me. The best ever were Intercity swallow livery and Regional Railways on the 158's. . . .
If anyone would like to see where East Midlands Trains got their ideas for their 156/153 liveries from...
This should be 2x153. I saw this train leaving Lincoln and it was very unusual. The 153 at the rear was being taken back to Nottingham for maintenance due to an air leak problem as far as I am aware. . . If you get up very early on a Saturday morning you will get no less than 4x dogbox coupled...
I love the ambiance and feeling of seaside places, but there are some really dreadful ones. In my neck of the woods I think Skegness is quite bad in terms of "chavness". I much prefer Mablethorpe but this can look very run down.... If you are into modified cars I suggest a trip to Cleethorpes at...
It depends entirely on the driver in question. I've known them to say they "don't know". . I have sometimes shown them the diagram to prove where it's going. This "are you sure?" thing seems to be a regular thing on Saturdays!
I would rather people ask me where the train goes 10 times than having them end up on the wrong train, giving me the headache of sorting out how to get them where they wanted to go in the first place! People can be quite confused especially if they are not regular travelers
One pet hate...
