    Merseyrail "Daysaver"

I noticed at Ellesmere Port yesterday that many people buy the anytime return to Liverpool, which is £5.00, or anytime return to Chester, which is £3.75, as opposed to the day savers at £4.50 all areas & £3.30 area G. At least they are on the first page of popular destinations now, but if you...

    Helsby-ellesmere port line

I used this stretch of line a couple of months back. The first time since around 1990. I was travelling to Ellesmere Port, back from Manchester. I normally go via Liverpool, but missed the train, so caught the Chester bound one. With that running late, it worked out it gave me a good...

    Stations with no monitors

Ellesmere Port, Overpool, Little Sutton, capenhurst and Bache have information points, which have monitors that show the time of the next trains and the destination. They don't have any station announcements or the type of displays that are at other MerseyRail stations.

    Merseyrail's massive fare increase.

The same situation Overpool to Ellesmere Port. Single £1.50 return £1.30 Before the fare increases in January a single was £1.00 and return £1.20. So no idea how they put up the single fare by 50%. Daysaver tickets are now £4.50 for all areas, and one area is £3.30. Both up 10p on last...

Merseyrail - ripping off passengers (again!)

The way Merseyrail handled the whole introduction of the Day Saver tickets was awful. It took over a month for them to appear on the TVM's. Merseyrail said in an email to me, that these Day Saver tickets will be on the first page, but they are not. People are buying the more expensive...

Merseyrail - ripping off passengers (again!)

The Anytime any route permitted to Liverpool ticket is still available. It is on the ticket machines at Ellesmere Port, Overpool & Little Sutton anyway, so no idea why it wouldn't be on the one at Capenhurst. It is also the very first one on popular destinations. Day Saver is on the...

    Penalty Fare query

All the unmanned stations are now in the penalty fare zone on Merseyrail, though the information on board trains suggests otherwise. The penalty fare zone was extended to all stations shortly after the ticket machines came in to operation. There are signs at the stations informing passengers...

    Merseyrail reduced service info.

There have been quite a few cancellations on the Chester services due to very late running, with them being terminated short of Liverpool, and restarted from Rock Ferry or Hooton. . When this is the case, the information boards advise to board the Ellesmere Port service and change at Hooton...

    Merseyrail reduced service info.

Merseyrail has been running a 30 minute service on all routes. Oddly, National Rail was claiming Merseyrail were running an hourly service on 23rd, yet it was operating a 30 minute service.

    Big fare increase for Merseyrail

I also emailed Merseyrail a couple of weeks ago, and had a reply of them on Monday just gone. They told me that there had been some technical issues in updating the TVM's to make the day tickets available, and they would be available by the end of the week. Unfortunately, having tried...
