Having tried this several times, you cannot avoid the high airport tram fee by using any other public transport.
You can walk from the Airport to an out of town park-and-ride site, but there is no other direct option than the tram as TCL ended direct bus services to the airport when they built...
I had imagined that the 195s might come in a variant 'Northern Connect' livery, but perhaps that delight still awaits us when the Connect network is launched.
Any news on whether CrossCountry will be implementing its consulted timetable? They backed down from it after Humza Yousaf challenged them, but does this mean business as usual, i.e. the current timetable will continue?

It's worth remembering that the Northern Franchise agreement refers to 'Rolling Stock Quality Requirements' applying on the Manchester Airport to Barrow/Windermere from December 2018 onwards.
These requirements include things such as air conditioning and electronic seat reservations which 769s...
All evidence so far is that the Northern Connect Middlesbrough-Carlisle service will stop at Metrocentre, Prudhoe and Hexham between Newcastle and Carlisle, thus probably improving on the current fastest 1h20 by only a few minutes.
That 1h20 service calls additionally at Haltwhistle so a a...
Many thanks!
I thought they might have been put in a more standard hourly Leeds departure pattern and alternated between Lancaster/Carlisle.
Edit: ...as in fact appears to be the case. Although by the looks of things the 1919 to Ribblehead will depart at a different time, whenever that may be...
Very interesting!
The biggest surprise for me is the additional York stopper being split out from the York-Blackpools.
But what of the Lancaster/Carlisle services?

As concerns the 170s, these appear to all be Leeds based if the timetable stays the same as the one Northern has proposed (see http://www.opsta.btck.co.uk/sopman )
With a first departure from Leeds to Southport at 0522 arriving 0803 (hourly to 1722) and returns from Southport from 0824 arriving...
A couple photos of the interior of 158756 on the 0947 Leeds-Carlisle on Saturday 27/05.
The refurb was much easier on the eyes than previous photos had suggested.
There was also a 156 on the Tyne Valley Line which had the exterior repaint but the old interior! Anyone know which unit that was...
Here is a rather poor image of the standard class interior of the set on the 13.54 off Peterborough to Leeds yesterday.

Will XC propose a revised timetable that keeps the improvements, or is it just business as usual and the direct award commitment is scrapped?

Excitingly, in a similar planning enquiry on the M67/Manc-Sheff road, I think CPRE objected on the grounds that efforts should be focused on providing additional rail capacity instead...

From my -admittedly vague- recollection of being on a doubled up 185 at Warrington Central 6 years ago, there were no special arrangements.

For reasons that evade me, the PIS at Burley Park only identifies the 1842 to Selby once it is pulling into the station, whereupon it magically appears on the screen.
Before 1842, the screen shows the next train as 1854...
