Screwed phone. Digital railcard. Big journey coming up.

A tangent I know but not all USB-C sockets are the same. I can't charge my cheapo android phone with a USB-C > USB-C cable, has to be a USB-A > USB-C cable that doesn't try to talk to the phone to work out the current.

Advice on TPE Nova reservations - seating - 1st class please

Or nothing except a drink and nibbles with a bad host. Last time I did that journey northbound they didn't serve food until after Preston (no crew change).

    Witnesses to the rescue

That sounds like the revenue staff 'cancelled' the PFs (if there is such a thing) by claiming them back from the passengers.

    Railcard ticket problem

But how am I, Mr Joe Public, meant to know this?

Mistakenly bought a Day return instead of an Open (period) return on Trainline. Given £57 penalty fare

I do because I prefer the PDF or Google Wallet version of the ticket and that's the easiest way to get it. Much simpler than faffing around in an app.

Mistakenly bought a Day return instead of an Open (period) return on Trainline. Given £57 penalty fare

What's also missed in this discussion is that the OP will have been sent one or two emails with the booking and ticket details. Ones I buy from Northern clearly state Outbound ... 1x {ticket type} Return ... If the ticket type is, for instance, an Off-Peak Day Return it says below "Any off-peak...

Appeal Advice - Penalty Fare at Canley [CNL] - Genuine Error regarding Starting Station

But the mistake is not just getting the wrong time train, it's using an advance ticket issued (presumably not by mistake) from a different station.

Is it the end of Picc - Vic bus in Manchester

I had forgotten they used to charge for Centreline. That would be why I rarely used it!

    Lancaster to Manchester

I don't disagree but would point out that getting through the barriers in the morning with an off peak ticket can be awkward because barriers/staff may not recognise them (though perfectly legal).

Is it the end of Picc - Vic bus in Manchester

Really? As someone who used to work close to Victoria and catch the train from Piccadilly I would walk every time unless the weather was really foul. The trams are not so quick factoring in the waiting time and the crawl around Piccadilly Gardens and buses get snagged in traffic as you say. To...

Railcards users to face additional checks when buying tickets

So what happens if you later decide to travel before the railcard start date? Can it be changed (for a fee?)? Do you buy another with the relevant start date, giving you a few weeks before the original start date and a few weeks after the new one expires when the original is still valid? I don't...

Railcards users to face additional checks when buying tickets

It was made very clear in my employer's travel policy that any delay claims during working hours were to be processed by our travel provider on behalf of the employer. Out of hours compensation for delay could be claimed directly by me from the TOCs.

Railcards users to face additional checks when buying tickets

True, for those in the know. But they are the retailer many passengers use when buying tickets so in that context a good example of how Delay Repay are working towards making claims simpler in the future.

    Plans for Castlefield Corridor

There used to be but it was poorly used so consolidated into the current two routes. It is possible to change at Portland Street to get from Victoria to Oxford Rd (but probably quicker to walk!) https://tfgm.com/ways-to-travel/bus/free-bus

Railcard renewal - demanding mobile number

Ticketmaster type mobile/wallet tickets use a rolling code to invalidate screenshots. I think digital railcards are similar.

    Penalty fine

How is "I have a sick relative so didn't read the Penalty Fare warning notices" a compelling reason? If you do something wrong, albeit mistakenly, just face up to the fact there may be a penalty instead of looking for spurious loopholes.

A scam phone calls and emails discussion.

I've had emails after clearing out multiple (hundreds) of files reminding me that will be in the recycle bin for 30 days.
